Past bad reviews are missing the mark!

    • Written by from Ottawa

There has been a lot of negative reviews about this VGA adaptor, saying it can't be used to mirror iphone or ipad screens, not so! It works just fine with iphone4S and 2nd gen Ipad. does eveything it is supposed to. I hooked it up to a monitor with external speakers and plugged in the VGA cable and adaptor and plugged in the speakers to the earphone jack on my Iphone and it worked beautifully! Don't let the negative reviews deter you. It might not work on older equipment, but IPhone 4s or newer it works just as you would expect!

    Mirroring works

    • Written by from Helensburgh

Not sure what all the complaints are about re: mirroring. Was able to successfully mirror my iPhone4s and iPad2. And by mirroring, I mean everything. Home screens, videos, games. For those with an older plasma TV (like me) or for those who don't want to pay for an AppleTV (mind you you need to connect the headphone jack of your iOS device to separately), this is such an affordable option. I use the cable to connect to both my monitor at work and TV at home. Very happy.

    Best purchase ever!

    • Written by from TAURANGA

I was a bit worried about purchasing this product after reading the reviews but then I realised most the negative reviews were from years ago and were due to the limitations of the ipad 1. I had already brought a knock off version of this adapter, and it was extremely temperamental so I needed something reliable.
I use my apple adapter daily and haven't had a single issue. Works perfectly and has made me life so much easier.

    Great for the occasional presentation.

    • Written by from Edinburgh

I bought this product for University business presentations and it has worked perfectly every time, the iPad immediately recognised what it was required to do and switched into presentation mode within keynote. The cable means little time is required to connect up the inputs and get everything running, very efficient.

    Great product, lovely design.

    Good. Works as expected.

    • Written by from Hong Kong

It just works as expected. It mirrors my iPad2 and iPad3 to projector, both my iPad are IOS 6.1.3, no special steps to connect it, no need restart iPad, no need connect VGA cable first, ... just connect it and it works. In iPad iTunes, since I do not have account, I am not sure if I purchased a movie it will work or not. But when I play the movie trailers in iTunes, the iPad shows "This video is playing on TV", the trailers show on the projector. Thanks.

Works with iOS 6.0 and up

    • Written by from Bakersfield

Before anyone else writes that this adapter doesn't work with iOS 6 or higher, please read this:
    1. DO NOT connect the VGA adapter to your apple device until you have done the following.
    2. Connect the VGA cable to the monitor or projector FIRST.
    3. Make sure the monitor or projector is connected to a power source and TURNED ON.
    4. Connect the adapter to the VGA cable.
    5. NOW connect your apple device to the VGA adapter.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing twice and expect to get different results.

    Great!

    This works perfectly!
To Those of you who have had troubles...
MAYBE YOU SHOULD READ THE DESCRIPTION FIRST!!
It clearly states video mirroring is ONLY SUPPORTED WITH IPHONE 4s AND IPAD 2 AND LATER!!! IPHONE 4 and iPad 1 only support VIDEO OUT( slide shows pictures videos, etc)
You can (and my teachers at school do!) use it to showcase apps and everything your device is showing. It simply has to be on an iphone4s or an iPad 2 or later. TRY READING DESCRIPTIONS BEFORE BAGGING ON A PERFECTLY LEGITIMATE, HIGH QUALITY PRODUCT. THANK YOU!!

It works for my iPad 3

    • Written by from Newbury Park

After reading all the negative reviews, I thought it might not do what I needed it to do. But, then I realized that the negative reviews were mostly about older iPads. The product description says that the adapter will allow mirroring of the iPad with the VGA projector. And it does. I will admit that some apps are not quite sure what to do with the mirroring. One pinball game only shows up on the projector and not on the iPad itself. However, most everything I wanted to demonstrate played on the projector and iPad 3 at the same time. So, I believe the mirroring does work.

    Simple, compact, and just perfect!

    • Written by from trout creek

This 30 pin adapter works flawlessly with my ipad and projector, the video mirroring is exactly what i thought it would be. Well worth the $35.00. I use it for keynote presentations at school and works just as it should. The piece is not complicated at all, plug it in and within seconds you are connected. Regarding some other reviews stating the devise is not video mirroring, perhaps you are not aware that video mirroring is only available with ipad 2 + and iPhone 4S+. Thanks again apple for making a super simple, easy to use accesories for my ipad!

Mirrors with iPad (3rd gen) / iPhone4S, both running iOS6

    • Written by from Endeavour Hills

I was cautious after reading about problems with mirroring, but I went to Apple Store and asked. The salesperson says it does mirror with iOS6 and says if I have problems with the cable, I could bring it back within 2 weeks. I bought it, took it home and tested it - it works! Mirrors everything I see on my iPhone4S and iPad (3rd gen) both running iOS6. I don't understanding why others are having problems with this product. I'm extremely happy with it!

    Business Travel

    • Written by from Lake Ridge

I bought this so i did not have to lug around my work Dell PC. Now I just travel with my Airbook and tunnel back to the Dell or transfer my files or presentations I need onto my Airbook. I had a presentation to give at a corporate retreat, i knew they would have VGA projectors. So I purchased this and it worked like a charm. HINT: Once you have it plugged in connected to the projector you will need to go to display and refresh, this might mean even unplugging the adapter and inserting it again. Other then that worked with no problem.

    Ignore the bogus ios6 reviews

    • Written by from Ooltewah

These folks don't know what they are talking about. I have ios 6 with the new iPad (3). It worked great!! I tried video mirroring and video etc. went to best buy to test first since they let me try it and they have a no cost restock fee if it doesn't work. Most of these folks on here with negative ios 6 reviews are not posting what they are running on it. I was tempted to listen but don't!!! It works great!! However it may be a case of a updated av adapter, There seems to be different models of the av adapter maybe? Anyways enjoy folks!!!

    Works perfectly!!

    • Written by from Winona

I'm not having a problem with it working on my iPad 2 with iOS 6. It didn't initially work because I plugged in the 30-pin connector BEFORE plugging in the VGA cable from my 32" monitor. However, disconnecting and reconnecting it to my iPad while the cable was still plugged in got me the result I expected - full mirroring and even plays movies from apps outside of the iOS Videos app such as Vudu, Netflix, etc! I'm quite pleased!

VGA Adapter All it Should Be

    • Written by from Grand Rapids

I purchased the VGA adapter for my iPad 2 and a data projector. I wanted to be able to show others how to use the iPad and all the apps. It worked perfectly from the very start. Every app showed on the screen clear and sharp. I did not try to play movies that were converted to the iPad. But photos, apps, settings, mail, everything showed beautifully without any effort.

    Works great

    • Written by from Fort Collins

I'm using this with an iPad 2, fully updated to iOS 5.1.1 and ALL apps (including DirecTV, videos purchased on iTunes, YouTube, Safari, Angry Birds, etc...) work just fine when connected to a monitor, widescreen TV, or projector. Keep in mind that it may not adjust the resolution to fit the TV so you might have black bars on the sides and such. DirecTV and videos seem capable of scaling to 16:9 aspect ratio of the TV.

The plug does come out pretty easily so it's best if you can just leave the iPad sitting flat on a stationary surface. VGA does not transmit sound so if you want to watch videos, you'll have to plan ahead or listen through the iPad.

I've also used this with an iPod Touch 4th Gen and the results are the same as with the iPad2.

    VGA connector...awsome

    • Written by from Austin

I got this connector few days back. And it is wonderful. My displays (acer HD 3D projector, Samsung LCD) are acting like mirrors to my iPad. What i am seeing on my iPad is displaying on the screen. But all the videos are playing only on the screen not on iPad.
