    Great keyboard!

    • Written by from Trooper

QUALITY- I'm genuinely shocked at the number of bad reviews for this. I'm on my second one now after wearing the first one out and when this one wears out, I'll probably get another one to replace. I'm at my computer 8-12 hours a day and can't even begin to guess at how many keystrokes per day go through this thing.

DESIGN- The design is pure Apple and it's great. Minimalist and blends perfectly with the Macbook, trackpad, and display. Solid feel and the tactile response from the keys is nearly perfect for a chiclet keyboard. My only gripe is that the white keys are dirt magnets! If you are going back and forth between typing and working on things (electronics usually in my case) be prepared to clean the keys often! I use screen wipes and do it when I'm changing the batteries.

BATTERY- Where I replace the trackpad batteries every couple of weeks, I can go 3-4 months with this keyboard before swapping out for a fresh pair. I don't travel with it and don't turn it off, just let it go to sleep on its own. I'm using Duracell rechargeable batteries (if it makes a difference). Can't say what others are using, but after reading so many battery corrosion issues, I had to do some Internet research. It's amazing that someone would drop $70 on a keyboard and then put cheap batteries in it!

SETUP- Drop. Dead. Simple. Seriously, if you can't follow the 3 steps in the quick start guide and get this thing working then stop what you're doing and return any technology you have.

    I like it, but......

    • Written by from Washington

I would love to give this 5 stars because it looks great and it paired up with my ipad air, iphone 4s and apple TV no problem. The only thing that lets it down for me is that sometimes it will repeat the 1st character you press on the keyboard, usually when it's 1st switched on or when going to a different web site. It's a bit frustrating to have to be mindful of this as well as typing. Other than that, any shortcuts I have saved to my ipad work with the keyboard which I like as I'm not the fastest at typing. Hope this review helps

All round, A great "little" keyboard!

    • Written by from Gloucester

Again, a great piece of technology... Stylish, Fast, and I use the word "little"... Firstly, it looks great. Its aluminium housing fits in with all apple computers and notebooks, but still looks good with any computer. It has precision cut edges giving it a reel feel of quality. The keys are a perfect size, feel soft to the touch but strong enough for heavy use. The letter/numbers etc are sort of clear to see, I say sort of because they are quiet difficult to see when in a low light environment which brings me to my only negative point which I will explain below. They are also in a perfect layout, not too close together while not to far apart, leaving ugly empty spaces, which you find on many keyboard today, so it doesn't make you hands/wrists ache after a long time typing as all the keys are at an easy reach! White is where the word little come in, As the keys are placed and arrange they way they are, apple have been able to keep the keyboard small, making it fit onto almost any environment and again keep it looking stylish. As for fast, it connects almost instantly and I have yet to see it buffering/lagging when typing. Battery life I have yet to discover as I have only had the keyboard for 2 weeks. But many other reviews say it last a good amount of time before batteries need replacing. I now come onto my only negative point, which I would say is quite a big one... Backlight... This keyboard would really benefit from a backlight, as seen on the MacBooks... Yes, it would greatly shorten the battery life, but apple could give the keyboard some form of a rechargeable battery that you can recharge by usb for example... But, this aside, its a great "little" keyboard!

    Pros:
    Style
    Size
    Feel
    Layout
    Connectivity

    Cons:
    No Backlight

Wireless Keyboard battery life and keyboard length are issues to consider

    • Written by from Corral de Tierra

I've owned my wireless keyboard about two years, changed batteries about 10 times, and never had an issue with pairing. It is always immediate. I like the low profle and tactile response. There are two flaws that for me are a problem. First, there is no numeric keypad. Second, the keyboard is too short. I like a longer keyboard because it has more mass and is more stable, and I can use it on my lap or an uneven surface. I also think the keyboard consumes too much power - batteries don't last nearly as long as I think they should.

Great feel & key response but its too limited without the extended keyboard

    • Written by from Cleveland

As usual, this is a quality made product from Apple and if this wireless keyboard was an extended keyboard I'd have given it 5 stars. If this was the size & layout of the USB extended keyboard that came with my iMac, I would love it. Bluetooth works great & no wires is a major plus. The feel and response of the keys is great too.

Not having the extended keyboard, and the modification of the actions of the remaining keys isn't as efficient for me. I also have the wireless mouse but its the large wireless trackpad that I use the most along with a lot of key controls. I look for the fastest way to navigate through my computer, screens, apps & I use many keyboard actions in place of a mouse or trackpad control.

Another major concern for me is that I also have an iPhone & iPad, along with other iMacs. This has me bouncing around between many keyboards. BTW, I LOVE my iPad & find myself using it far more often, and my iMac far less. I'll be installing Yosemite soon & suspect that the synchronization of my iMac, with my already synchronized iPhone & iPad will bring me back to my iMac more often.

    Nice keyboard

    • Written by from Ystradgynlais

Bought one for use with my Mac Mini after I spilled tea over my cheaper genreric bluetooth keyboard. Unlike that one the apple keyboard doesn't disconnect after being idle for 5 minutes. The sleek design looks good and the keys are good to the touch. Being a touch typist, my one gripe is the in the layout of the @ and " keys which are the "wrong" way around. Although this can be corrected by selecting Brtish PC as the input source, I am trying to see if I can get on with the layout as is. Another gripe, which applies to all UK keyboards, do we really need the $ key? This should be replaced, IMO, by the € key. A suggestion that Apple might consider on future keyboards.

That said, it was still a good purchase.

    Well rounded wireless keyboard

    • Written by from huntington

This keyboard is quite near compatable with every Macintosh, Classics suchs as eMac g4 with usb bt chip, Any device that can take a Bluetooth keyboard,
The only problem I have had with paring has been with Samsung devices, Rooted and custom rom did not resolve the problem..
I recall a difficult time to pair with the Samsung 7 inch tablet. "shows for 2 seconds out of 245563 attempts"
My current cellphone is an android lg-e973 and pairs like cake
My only problem is the life of the board, Guess I should use lithium's or get a better rechargeables

Oh wait the major fail on apples part is the genius is how to replace the cells
    0. find a coin bigger then a dime
    1. use coin to remove small cover
    2. change the 3 cells
    3. lose the small cover some where's in the r0om.

Why do I love the PlayStation 3 controllers sell so well?
Standard usb charger port and blutooth and able to charge+play with usb, and compatibility as wide as this keyboard.
Why I compaired to ps3 controllers? Because its user friendly human interface and I want apple to use this in there next keyboard upgrade

I would glady buy a new keyboard if it had a mega battery life, and was able to work via usb while charging,+ having and be able to pair to a set device by pressing a number key. if I could plug my phone in to the keyboard and have the phone charge
that sysadmin guy would buy with my features.

    Best keyboard for iPad

    • Written by from Belleville

I've had scores of other keyboards. But the fact that this one is a full sized keyboard (unlike Logitech, whose design I like for case and keyboard but the keyboard is not very functional for someone who types a great deal) is a plus. The only real down side is that there's no case for the iPad and keyboard. I ended up purchasing the origami case for the keyboard (after carrying it around with me in the original box for YEARS) and a case for my newly upgraded iPad Air (upgraded from an iPad 2).

I wish Apple would get with the program and design something for both or come up with a new keyboard/case for it's product.

    So far so good, but......

    • Written by from UNDERWOOD

I bought it today and it is very comfortable for using on ipad. However there are not too much functions button support for iOS system such as back to home screen and so on.

So I hope apple can improve the support more functions for ipad by using the apple wireless keyboard.

Very Nice But Just A Little More Refinement

    • Written by from Dallas

This keyboard is nice to use all around including writing papers, coding, and doing creative media. I really like the small footprint of the keyboard since I can have my mouse to the keyboard.

I feel Apple can improving one thing on their next iteration of the keyboard:
Just a little better keystroke feedback. I still find myself having more typos using this keyboard compared to my mechanical keyboard. If this could be properly addressed, I wouldn't take any other keyboard in the world.

I would like to give 4.5 stars if possible.

    Great Keyboard!

    • Written by from Forest Hills

Really like this keyboard. Looks great with my MacBook and iPad. I like the chicklet design and key travel. The only thing I wish it had was backlighting for use in a dark room (but I understand that this would be a big battery drain). Lack of backlighting is why I gave it four stars, otherwise it would have been a five star review.

Nice keyboard all in all. Only thought that the keyboard was lighted like the MacBook keyboard. I suppose it being a battery operated preclude the ability to have it light as well.

    Almost there

    • Written by from Birmingham

Great product with a fresh and clean imagine like all apple products.

Negatives - Needs a delete key, as well as a hashtag key.

The option for wireless keyboards with a numerical keypad would also be ideal, but not as essential as the other two small changes.

    Nice Product BUT...

    • Written by from Whittier

it's just a tad to small for big hands, and if your use to the "old" white mac keyboard then it will take getting use to because of the space difference, but after a while you get use to it, the numerical keypad isn't missed that much, but I love that since it is wireless, the cord isn't missed at all! THIS IS PRETTY COOL KEYBOARD!

    Great mobile keyboard

    • Written by from Sydney

Have just purchased this keyboard and it works really well. Reading the other reviews I noticed two negative criticisms, so here's my take on them:
    1. There were a few complaints about the on/off switch and not being able to distinguish between on and off. I found it quite simple, to turn the device on press the on/off switch once (no need to hold down) and after a second the green light will appear. To turn off just hold the on/off switch and wait until the green light disappears before releasing. If the device is already on, and you want to check if it is on, simply pressing the on/off switch will immediately display the green light. I think this works similar to the on/off switch on a mobile phone. I certainly haven't found the need to carry the keyboard batteries around separately (as one of the other reviews suggested).
    2. Lack of numeric keypad. Whilst a numeric keypad would be nice, most notebooks I have used also don't have a numeric keypad. I guess if you are buying the keyboard to do data entry of a lot of numbers then you would be better off buying a bluetooth keyboard with a numeric keypad. However as a reasonably portable device to use with my iPad or Mac mini, I find the keyboard easy to use, very easy to type with a good tactile feel and stylish. Expensive ? Yes, but no more so than other high end wireless keyboards.

Don't know how, but it's the best

    • Written by from Rockville

Apple has done it again. This keyboard (although on the expensive side) has exceeded my expectations for an easy to use and set up keyboard. The keys are awesome and beat the keys on my PC (yes I said PC, this keyboard paired flawlessly with the bluetooth on my computer). I can type so much faster on this than on my PC keyboard and I have no idea why. I'm glad I bought it. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was due to the steep price tag.

Works flawlessly but only with a Mac

    • Written by from Shawnee

When I had my white Macbook, this keyboard worked great when I left the computer closed and used an external monitor. Pairing it with the matching trackpad I had a nice little setup on my desk. Can't wait to get a Mac mini to use them again.

Warning: this keyboard doesn't work with a regular PC; it must be used with a Mac in either Mac mode or if you have bootcamp installed, it will work with Windows or Linux. Because of this, I'm having to put the keyboard in storage until I can get a mini.

So far only very minor problems.

    • Written by from DeKalb

    1) Mine came with a tiny, forgivable bump in the brushed aluminum on the left hand side.
    2) More importantly, the keyboard does occasionally double type characters as others have complained about. However, every time it has done this is when my iPad was transitioning screens or just woke via keyboard keys being pressed (i.e. when the processor was clearly in use and obviously not idle).
    3) Since using it, sometimes my ipad will not allow me to input text via either on screen keyboard or bluetooth keyboard. When this has occurred, simply shutting off the keyboard for 15 seconds before turning it back on has usually fixed the problem.

I have not used it with my MBP yet, but it seems silly to do as such since it is a portable device with an attached keyboard. Therefore, I can only tell potential snags for iPad users. I can say that I did successfully and easily also use it with my iPhone 4S for a few minutes just to make sure I could.

Overall, I do not regret the purchase. I've only had it for a week, but I've gotten a lot of use out of it.

    pretty good

    • Written by from Salt Lake City

First off... I'm totally new to Mac, just bought a mini on 6-14-13. used Windows since 3.1, so theres not gonna be any puffery or bias here. I bought this KB because I needed summin to handle the functions etc. for mac. Despite some of the reviews,I bought this and its been great. I use my mac for games, (WoW, Diablo 3), graphic development, and design,... all done with my feet up on the desk, the KB on my lap and plenty of obstacles in the way. It hasn't let me down yet.

    Oh, how there's a balance…

    • Written by from Kayenta

The balance of the brand, design and just how awesome this keyboard is keeps me from chucking it out the window. It's great, it's low profile, and it's made by Apple; what more could I want? Backlighting and a wireless version of the keyboard with numerical keypad, in one. That's why I gave it a rating of four stars, it's great, but it could be better.
