Best PC monitor I have ever owned.

    • Written by from Wakeman

I absolutely love my Apple LED Cinema Display 27". Don't believe these myths that the ACD27" works only on Macs, or that you need a Mac to control brightness controls from 0 to 100%. I have a PC with an eVGA GeForce GTX 260. The ACD27" is connected to my GTX 260 with the Atlona AT-DP400. There is no lag or image degradation from the Atlona.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with Boot Camp 3.1 installed, along with Apple's 27" Display Update. The speakers, microphone, iSight camera, ambient light sensor, USB ports, and brightness controls work flawlessly. Driver level 1:1 pixel mapping even works through my nVidia card. With a pixel pitch of .233, text is razor sharp. Images look vivid and really pop with the glossy finish! The glossy panel could be a problem if you want to use this in a bright environment, but with proper lighting conditions glare is a non-issue. This is hands down the best PC monitor I have ever used. It has a much cleaner image than any other LG IPS display on the market, all of which have an aggressive anti-glare coating which creates a "sparkle" effect. Thank you, Steve Jobs, for bringing a glossy solution to IPS buyers!

    The Best

The 27" Cinema Display is easily the best display for any Mac. The gloss screen makes the resolution seem higher than on the antiglare displays. Highly recommended, pick one up!!!

    Great monitor

    • Written by from Twickenham

This monitor is fantastic and completes the perfect setup with MacBook Pro, Magic Mouse and extended flat keyboard. I use it primarily for programming but also do a lot of graphics and this is by far the best setup I've used for either purpose. Perhaps this marks me as an amateur rather than a professional, but I find the glossy screen exquisite and clear and have never had any problem with it apart from the occasional dropout for a second. My wife and I have three of these things between us (home and work in different cities) and I'm often tempted to buy another - working without one is no longer palattable.

    Great Display

Just bought this today after having used a 20" Apple Cinema Display for the last three years and boy what a great display. Love the ambient light sensor and the brightness and clarity of the large space. Overall I am very happy with it.

I've wanted to order this display when it first came out but negative reviews kept me away last week i went to the apple store and saw the display first hand and its gorgeous! very bright and very clear & and sharp i bought it immediately its as glossy as my MacBook Pro so that's beautiful and the sound quality of the speakers is excellent! i highly recommend the 27 inch Apple Display its the best display money can buy...

    5 Stars.

Got the last one in stock from my local Apple store last night (9/23/10).

Will hook this up to my 17" MBP 2.66GHz Intel i7 SSD after proper calibration. Glossy screens are amazingly sharp.

Buy it -- retails only $1K.

great product however... cables too short for mac pro users.

    • Written by from Hong Kong

    this is a great product.
I have two of these on a mac pro.

BUT mac pro users beware.. the cables are really short and not long enough to reach the floor. Apple HK do not sell extension cables, so you will have to shop in the US to get them.

Love this product, but you NEED low light levels since its reflective gloss...
ANY light behind you and your in trouble.

    Simply Great.

I thoroughly enjoy my 13in MBP, but when combined with the Cinema Display, its simply great. Iwork's full screen mode is accentuated with this display. Must have for any scholar, academic, or artist.

    Awesome Display!!

If the glare disappointments you, turn your lights down for crying out loud. There ARE numerous ways around that ya know? This is an awesome display, a lot cheaper that the 30" and much bigger and nicer that the 24". This is even cheaper than other brands with the same resolution. Try getting the level of Apples service behind any other brand and you will be disappointed.

A little pricey, but in line with performance.

Ignore the other reviewers that complain of glare. If you're working in an environment with strong direct light coming from behind, chances are the glare is the least fo your worries. This sort of lighting will not only produce glare, but will also negatively impact the colour reproduction of any display.

Position your screen in a place with good, neutral, diffuse ambient light. If there's a window, place the screen facing away from it. If there's still glare, make sure the brightness is turned up.

Personally I'm a fan of the glass front. It makes the display poke-proof (if you work in a team environment, you'll know what I mean), and fingerprints just wipe off. The colours pop, and once this display is calibrated, you'll never have to worry about colour reproduction.

    Highly recommended.

    a substantial upgrade

I have been using this monitor about a week with my new mini. In a dimly lit room the gloss is not an issue for me. It is a solid piece with enough weight and heft to make it solid and stable. Best monitor i have used in years.

A great display typical of Apple's quality.

    • Written by from South San Francisco

Fantastic display! Picked it up today for the office to compliment my MacBook Air. Bright, great color, sound, and Apple's build quality totop it off. Take the complaints about the glossiness with a grain of salt. It can't please everyone. This also makes a great 2nd monitor to your iMac.

    awesome

    • Written by from Myakka City

Wow there are a lot of whiners on this one. This screen is great in every aspect, including its glossy screen. I am impressed mainly at the pricing of this screen, as there is not currently much competition in the class/price range.

Suggesting that a matte screen should be standard is like suggesting ferraris come with wheelchair lifts. (BECAUSE WHAT IF I NEED A WHEELCHAIR). Maybe this is just me, but if youre doing "pro" video editing--and especially color correction--why would you have lights and windows open anyway. Go to best buy and get a 23" LED monitor for 1/4 the price and a matte screen.
