    works great

    • Written by from Roselle

I use this adapter everyday at work - and disconnect it several times a week - and reconnect it. I have not had problems. Some of the issues described I believe are related to changing display settings (mirror display etc) The best use of this cable for everyday workflow is to make use of two screens- the laptop and the external monitor next to each other. It is important with all kinds of cables to avoid too much pressure on the port or the cable.

    It does the job

Bought the item to play .avi's form my macbook to my Sharp HDTV. Good to go!

Made the first mistake of buying a mini-dvi to VGA adapter but guess what.. they don't work with the new macbooks. Luckily Apple now displays images of the connection plugs so now you shouldn't go wrong.

    VGA display port adpt.

    • Written by from Pontefract

This is an excellent little device which works fine in all situations that I have come across with projectors and monitors. Suggestion: why don't Apple make one which is VGA and DVI? That would save carrying two dongles arround.

    Works Flawlessly

    • Written by from Edison

I use this cable with a late-2008 MacBook aluminum and NEC 1770GX. I watch movies/videos on the NEC while surfing the internet on my MacBook. It works perfectly. Set up was negligible -- just a minute to plug in the cable. Refreshingly simple and highly recommended.

    Does its job-with a Samsung

MacBook Pro to Samsung TV. No problem. Taught my wife how to mirror the display and she can watch all the Netflix streaming movies she wants to, using the TV.

    The suspense was unbearable...

    • Written by from North Port

I needed this to do a presentation for class but I was worried because of all the negative reviews. Bottom line is, night before the presentation I unhooked the monitor that was connected with my families one windows desktop, plugged the adpater into my 13 inch MBP and the screen automatically adjusted, I selected mirror screens and it worked as smoothly as a brand new Ferarri! I don't know about performance with TV's but it works great with my monitor. Only thing is that it's a bit short, and it discolors easily.

    Product Works Perfectly

    • Written by from CHICAGO

This product works perfectly, exactly as it's supposed to. Now, I've only used this on my external monitors of various sizes, no TVs, but it works great.

So like some other reviewers, I'm not sure why this thing doesn't have a higher rating.

There is nothing wrong with this product!

Like other reviewers, I do not see why this is not a highly rated product. It is simply a VGA adapter. Nothing more, nothing less.

Negative Samsung reviews? Worked perfectly for me on receipt, no problem.

    • Written by from Daly City

I don't quite understand all the negative Samsung reviews: I held off purchasing this
adapter for a month because of them: I finally ignored other people's Samsung difficulties and I took a "risk" and bought it and received it this morning.

I just hooked it up from my 17" MacBook Pro/3.06/2x4GB/500/SD/AG and plugged it in via VGA cable to my Samsung 50" 1080P Plasma (PN50B550T2F) and mirrored with absolutely no difficulty. I'm sorry I hesitated buying it now. It was stunning to see Safari speed through pages using my AT&T U-Verse MaxPlus internet account (up to 18Mbps downstream but usually clocks around 14 to 16 Mbps) on that large of a screen.

    Awesome Product!

    • Written by from New Lenox

I recently purchased a 13-inch MacBook Pro and the screen is a good size for when your not at your desk but I decided to go ahead and get the Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter so I could hook it up to my 20-inch LCD Monitor when I'm at my desk at home. So, I bought it and brought it home and I plugged everything in and it instantly recognized my monitor all I had to do was set the resolution higher so it looked better on the bigger screen! The adapter is nice and compact so you can carry it around with you in your laptop bag if you wanted to. I didn't have any problems with the plug falling out of the socket like some people had been complained about, the plug seems to stay in well enough so as to not fall out but also loose enough to be taken out without any hassle. This is a very nice product and I would recommend it to anyone looking to attach a larger monitor to their MacBook or MacBook Pro!

    Can't understand the bad reviews

    • Written by from Stony Brook

It worked perfectly for me. Come on, this is just a VGA adaptor, it has no reason not to work properly as people have been reporting. I agree that the initial resolution was bad, but this is a matter of adjusting the resolution and color properties in the System Preferences/Displays. It has a nice wizard to help you.

    Works Perfectly On 27" iMac

    • Written by from Murrieta

I just purchased the 27" iMac w/ 2.66 Ghz Quad Core. I had a PC with a 19" Samsung SyncMaster 910MP and so I decided it would be nice to have a 2nd display. This was very simple to get working. After connecting everything all you have to do is go to system prefrences to set up the monitors.

I am running Windows XP on my Bootcamp v3.1 partition and Snow Leopard on my Mac partition. The dual monitors work great! Absolutely no issues under either operating system. I highly recommend this cable. I've set them up as both mirroring and extended desktop and have had no issues in either mode.

BTW...On a side note my mouse pointer was very erratic with bootcamp v3.0 drivers installed but now it is perfect with the v3.1 drivers.

    Now I am in heaven!

    Pay Attention

    • Written by from Mesa

This adapter worked for me. These bad reviews on here are just from customers NOT paying attention to what works. Do your Homework, and you will see that it works out! But this adapter was exactly what I needed, and I got it 2 days after ordering it, which was great, and able to get my Presentation set up a day before!

    Saved My Business School Presentation

    • Written by from Powder Springs

This adapter saved my bacon by allowing me to connect my new 13" Macbook Pro to the classroom's projector VGA plug and present my term paper! My laptop doesn't have the VGA connection like the Windows PCs that most of the students were using. I didn't have to reboot my mac to activate the mini displayport; it automatically worked when i made the connection. Warning: There were two students in my class with older mac laptops and this Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter wouldn't fit in their macs. I bought my 13" macbook pro (MB990LL/A) in August so it's important to get the right adapter for your mac. If unsure, I recommend taking your mac into an Apple store or other retailer to get the right adapter.

    Absolutely Fantastic

    • Written by from Grimsby

Bought this product when purchasing a new iMac for the study in my house. I had also bought a new LG TV to go with it, i decided it might be pretty nice to wall mount the TV above the mac, and using it as an extended desktop when I need to focus on work and the TV shouldn't be on.

Constant praise should be given to apple for making such a seamless product, I switched the TV onto the VGA input, and connected the minidisplay port to the mac. Instantly I had an extended desktop.

It even allows me to tell the mac where the second monitor is, above it. This seems to be a problem for many Windows users that you cannot have an extended desktop above the original and dominant screen.

Overall, just five stars for absolute satisfaction, and just thank you Apple! For making such a superb product, (although the wire is a touch short).

I have a Vizio and it works just fine. It goes up to the full 1920x1080 resolution. It has a tight fit so you know it wont come unplugged but sometimes its a little to hard to unplug. Overall, great buy.
