    Works Great

Purchased this adapter to use a new Mini (2.4GHz Core 2 Duo) with an old 15" Samsung Syncmaster 570V. (The Mini is being used as a FileMaker server so monitor size/quality not critical.) The adapter hooked up easily and is performing very well.

    Works Perfectly

Ok, it didn't connect automatically like i was hoping, but after going into displays and clicking detect displays, it found the projector within 5 seconds. Now i can give high quality presentations direct from my mac without needing to export to a Microsoft Powerpoint. Cheers.

Negative Samsung reviews? Worked perfectly for me on receipt, no problem.

    • Written by from Daly City

I don't quite understand all the negative Samsung reviews: I held off purchasing this
adapter for a month because of them: I finally ignored other people's Samsung difficulties and I took a "risk" and bought it and received it this morning.

I just hooked it up from my 17" MacBook Pro/3.06/2x4GB/500/SD/AG and plugged it in via VGA cable to my Samsung 50" 1080P Plasma (PN50B550T2F) and mirrored with absolutely no difficulty. I'm sorry I hesitated buying it now. It was stunning to see Safari speed through pages using my AT&T U-Verse MaxPlus internet account (up to 18Mbps downstream but usually clocks around 14 to 16 Mbps) on that large of a screen.

    Pay Attention

    • Written by from Mesa

This adapter worked for me. These bad reviews on here are just from customers NOT paying attention to what works. Do your Homework, and you will see that it works out! But this adapter was exactly what I needed, and I got it 2 days after ordering it, which was great, and able to get my Presentation set up a day before!

    Absolutely Fantastic

    • Written by from Grimsby

Bought this product when purchasing a new iMac for the study in my house. I had also bought a new LG TV to go with it, i decided it might be pretty nice to wall mount the TV above the mac, and using it as an extended desktop when I need to focus on work and the TV shouldn't be on.

Constant praise should be given to apple for making such a seamless product, I switched the TV onto the VGA input, and connected the minidisplay port to the mac. Instantly I had an extended desktop.

It even allows me to tell the mac where the second monitor is, above it. This seems to be a problem for many Windows users that you cannot have an extended desktop above the original and dominant screen.

Overall, just five stars for absolute satisfaction, and just thank you Apple! For making such a superb product, (although the wire is a touch short).

Despite reviews from others suggesting this does not work with data projectors, it worked perfectly with mine. First time, no hassle, no fuss, no problems.

Works fine on my NEC NP50 DLP projector. Maybe there is some sync signal problem on some monitors - I don't know. It works fine for me.

I use this adaptor with my new MacBook to connect an 15 inch Acer LCD monitor, for those times when I need to refer to info in one app. while working in another one. As soon as I plugged it in, the display settings popped up on their respective displays and all I had to do was set the position and resolution for the Acer monitor. Works perfectly, now I can simply drag windows from one screen to the other.

    Firmware update fixed it

    • Written by from NEW YORK

I was connecting a Mac Mini up to a 40" Samsung 720p LCD. At first it would not display anything, but then (using a different monitor) I updated the firmware of the adapter (who knew it would have firmware?!) and it worked fine.

    Excellent bit of kit

    • Written by from Peterborough

This works perfectly with a Panasonic TX-32LZD81 freesat LCD TV. Great for catching up TV programs or just large screen surfing. Don't make the mistake of getting the larger Display port connection, this fits the old Macbook and some desktops.

    Excellent Adapter

    • Written by from Birmingham

Bought this adapter in September 2011 to use my Mac during presentations and it has been excellent. Abosultely no problems with it. Quality of the images are great and it doesn't slow down the speed of the presentation, so everything happens in real time, without delay.

Great bit of kit. Would definately recommend!

I got this a few years ago to connect my [then] new MBP to projectors & TVs. It has never failed on a variety of such devices and has even come through when another person's aftermarket version failed.

Bought it from the Apple store on Fifth Ave. Went in, asked for help with finding the product. The guy found it in a second and then I found out the line was huge (at least 30 mins waiting). He took out the Apple Store iPhone and swiped my credit card on it. It was awesome. Didn't have to wait on the big line, and the receipt was emailed to me on the spot.

I've used this a couple of times at college with the built in projectors and it works fine. I also connect a spare computer monitor and that works great too.

    Never a problem

    • Written by from Alhambra

I use this adapter almost every day for a digital projector in my classroom, and I use it at home for a monitor to watch movies and I have NEVER had a problem. I have had it for almost two years now.

The screws fit right in and I am glad the port is smaller because I think that big VGA port is ugly. Also how often are you going to have something in the video port, both audio ports and both USB ports?

Like all Apple products, it is sleek, easy to use right out of the box, and doesn't break.

    Almost Perfect

    • Written by from Oak Lawn

Overall, its a good product. It's aesthetically pleasing, an fits right into the mini display port. The actual connections and color is also very good. However, when attaching the VGA Cable, it does not always stay attached, even with the screws. Most of the time it fits, but sometimes, when plugged into certain cables, and Smart Boards, it wont stay connected and I have to put a pice of tape around it, then it is fine and doesn't give me any trouble. Its a very good cord, and worth the money. Don't let one person's bad review not make you buy this, or a Mac. They work perfectly and come in handy.

If you have problems with your adapter, try disconnecting it from your MacBook Air while maintaining connection from the adapter to your projector or any display with VGA port.
Alternatively, check it out under the finder, which should be one of the icons on your dock.

Works Perfectly- even on Samsung TV!

    • Written by from Arundel

I was a little worried about buying this after reading the reviews, but figured that having worked as an AV technician, I'd be able to make it work, even if it wasn't as simple as the Mini-DVI on my old PowerBook G4.

It arrived today. I plugged it into my Samsung TV to test it. It worked- I plugged it in, it worked. I checked mirroring the display still worked fine. It did. (I usually use a split screen, but the mirror is useful at times).

I can only conclude that the most common problem with this bit of kit is "user error". It sits much more securely in the socket than the mini-DVI did, which frequently fell out, and works without an issue. I look forward to using my Mac at work for my presentations, as I've been stuck with their old Windows PC for months.

Only downer is the price- but since it stops the problem of dead/damaged VGA ports common on Windows PCs, I can't complain too much. I'd sooner pay £21 to replace the adapter than £££ to replace the port.

Well done, Apple. This MacBook Pro user is delighted (again!)
