    Product Works Perfectly

    • Written by from CHICAGO

This product works perfectly, exactly as it's supposed to. Now, I've only used this on my external monitors of various sizes, no TVs, but it works great.

So like some other reviewers, I'm not sure why this thing doesn't have a higher rating.

Worked perfectly out of the box, directly connected to pdp-pioneer TVs series 508 XD VGA and worked easily (even the right LCD TV was detected in display settings with all possible settings, colors, ...) a breeze.

    Works for me!

    • Written by from Toronto

This cable does what it says it's for. I was slightly hesitant to purchase it after reading these reviews but I bought it, and tried it out and worked like a charm!

I have the 13" aluminum body MacBook and I used it on:
    - LG 37" LCD TV (Model: 37LG50) - awesome!!
    - screen projector (don't know make/model) - worked flawlessly!

I guess it's hit or miss, depending on what you connect it to.

    AWESOME !!

Forget all the other bad reviews because apple has made ( i think ) a new version of it
( also cas it has a box as the cover unlike the earlier ones). IT has two mode... mirror and the other one is that only presentations will be seen on screen....nothing else.
Well it works perfectly with my LG and beautiful RESOLUTION! ( didn't expect that! ).

    Analog Video versus Digital Video

    • Written by from Centreville

I purchased this to connect my imac 2009 2.66 GHz intel core 2 duo to an external HD monitor. It was to replace Moshi's Mini Displayport to HDMI adaptor, which was causing problems to my system (rattling noises, computer overdrive, etc)

imac 2009 2.66 GHz intel core 2 duo and early imacs without HDMI ports are technically pushing out Analog Video. To use Mini Displayport to HDMI adaptors is an unnatural process and compromises your computer because it is up-converting analog video into digital video when it connects to your external monitor. If you notice, Apple does not produce a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adaptor. They dont want to be accountable for something that doesnt really work but kinda does, like Mini DisplayPort to HDMI.

Mini DisplayPort to VGA is your best bet for imacs without hdmi out ports.

    Does work with Samsung TV!

    • Written by from Carshalton

Just thought I'd say in response to other reviewers using Samsung TVs that this adapter works fine. Just make sure you are on mirror settings which is under System Preferences - Display - Arrangement, and you should be fine!

It Works! Samsung owners, read your manual first!!!!!!!

    • Written by from London

Great product, works perfectly. Those Samsung owners complaining that this product doesn't work on Samsung TV's, well, perhaps you should have read your manuals first. Samsung has restricted certain modern TV's to use DVI, not VGA. So it's a Samsung Support Issue! Don't blame Apple for it not working. Remember folks, VGA only supports picture, you need a separate stereo/phono cable for audio.

Works perfectly. MacBook to Plasma TV

    • Written by from London

I wanted this so that I can mirror what's on my MacBook (late 2009 model) onto a Panasonic plasma screen (non HD & 8 years old). The item arrived very quickly through the post and has worked perfectly. I can see mirrored exactly what is on the Mac screen onto the TV screen.

    You can surf the web.
    Watch videos from your MacBook.
Watch BBC iPlayer and other iplayers.
    View photographs from your MacBook.

The sound will come from your MacBook, however you can easily attach a speaker to your MacBook via it's 3.5mm jack output.

You can also have different things displaying at the same time on the two screens (Mac & TV) being controlled from the Mac. Sounds a little confusing at first, becomes clear when you play about with it a little. You may need to adjust the resolution in your Mac's preferences to get the desired size you want on your TV screen.

I found looking at YouTube videos very useful in helping with the setup.

Like other reviewers, I do not see why this is not a highly rated product. It is simply a VGA adapter. Nothing more, nothing less.

    AMAZING!!

    • Written by from Longfield

After reading other peoples reviews, I was a bit weary about buying this adapter, but I thought I'd give it a go anyway, turns out it works perfectly, took me a while to figure out how to use my second screen with my MacBook closed, but apart from that, i really like this adapter, it even works at 1920x1080 at 60hz.

Works as advertised! (Also: why do some adaptors break!?)

    • Written by from Williamsburg

I have had this product for over 2 years now and it still works flawlessly with my MacBook Pro's (late 2012 and mid 2013 models) and a variety of models (even some samsung monitors).

Many reviews seem to mention that they stop working after some time. I have not had this problem but I would attribute the breaking adaptors to three reasons:

    1) People who twist the white adaptor cable when it is plugged in.
(that 3 inch white connector cord looks very vulnerable) you may risk disconnecting some of the wires that connect the adaptor and the thunderbolt port. When it is plugged in make sure there is no tension on this small white cord!)

    2) People who damage the pins in the connector cable.
The connector pins in any VGA male/male cable are very fragile. Do you disconnect of reconnect the pins frequently to different monitors? Maybe it is your VGA cable and not the adaptor. Or maybe you scratched up the female VGA port on the monitor or adaptor itself. Be gentle and always pull straight out of the socket (wrenching a VGA in its port, i.e. twisting when removing WILL DAMAGE PINS AND THE PORT. Get a new VGA cable first if the adaptor stops working because VGA cables are known to die over time.

    3) Overheating of the adaptor
The more you use the connector for large periods of time the hotter it will get. Over heating the adaptor will decrease its longevity. I typically only use this for a few hours at a time, and unplug it from my computer when I am done.

To summarize, I have used this product successfully for 2 years on more than a dozen different monitors and TV... it always worked for me! Take care of your adaptor and cables and you should have no problem with this device!!!

Works perfectly straight out of the box

    • Written by from Lytham St Annes

i don't understand all the negative comments, I am a new Mac user so still learning the OS differences but the VGA adapter gave me no trouble at all just plugged it in selected the VGA source input on my 42" Nikai flat screen LCD TV to find my laptop view mirrored on the TV.

I did try different resolutions from my MAC System preferences - Hardware - Displays. I found that the only resolutions that worked were 60 Hz frequencies.

One final note although I selected different resolutions to get a full screen picture I found that once I closed the laptop clamshell screen the TV automatically became fullscreen as the main view with the laptop screen automatically shutting down. I could then drive my laptop, view videos from iTunes by using the Trackpad. Very pleased with the VGA Adapter.

Simply the perfect choice for projectors

    • Written by from Ahmedabad

I have recently bought Infocus IN102 DLP projector and connected my macbook 2010 model with it through this cable and believe me it worked as a charm with nice crisp and clear image of about 100 inches. I would stongly recommend this product though bit costly but its worth the money you spend.

Purchased this adapter to use a new Mini (2.4GHz Core 2 Duo) with an old 15" Samsung Syncmaster 570V. (The Mini is being used as a FileMaker server so monitor size/quality not critical.) The adapter hooked up easily and is performing very well.
