Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic
junk! don't waste your money
Written by RM from Astoria

I bought these headphones about 6 months ago and they no longer work.
The rubber connecting the earbuds to the cord has come lose, exposing the wires. The microphone and remote function stopped working weeks ago and now only the right ear bud is working. They were great while they lasted but I won't buy another Apple headphone product for a long, long time.10 of 13 people found this useful

Great Clarity
Written by BR from Bessemer
9/12/2009
Just moved to these for my 3G iPhone after my V-Moda Vibe Duos developed a short in the left channel. I must say I am impressed. The clarity, definition and separation is much better in these Apple headphones then I was expecting. I am hearing nuances that were totaling missing from the Vibes. My wife has a pair of Vibe Duos and I have swapped back and forth and the sound of the Vibes are muddy when compared to these. The bass is not as strong in the Apples but setting the EQ on bass boost does a good job of taking care of that. I had to boost the treble for the Vibes.
One thing I do miss is a lapel clip. Also the fact that Apple is using their own kind of silicone ear tips will make tips harder to replace if lost. Most of the other in-ear headphones I have used have all had the same kind of tips. But the tips on these do seem to firmly hold to the buds so maybe I can keep up with them.
Highly recommended.3 of 4 people found this useful

Absolute Junk, not recommended for strenuous activity.
Written by PM from Auburn

I bought these to use with my I-pod shuffle 3rd generation, mostly for working out. I do a lot of running and cycling and experienced problems right from day one. The first time I used them the remote stopped working after an extended run, I assumed from sweat getting in. The problem continued to re-occur after each workout and eventually the up volume button stopped working altogether. The sound quality wasn't as touted on the Apple website; I found them to sound marginal at best, even after trying all three sizes of ear buds. The replaceable tips also kept coming loose. For $80.00 headphones I certainly expected much better quality than this, especially from Apple. I've been forced into now purchasing a remote adapter (from Belkin, appears to be built to a much better quality) and Kllipsch S-4 head phones that sound exceptional. I read other reviews of these that indicated similar problems but felt as though Apple would have kept up with what was happening and addressed the issue(s) but I was apparently mistaken. Never again...

Acceptable sound quality, terrible design
Written by TB from East St. Paul
8/12/2009
The sound quality is okay, but the silicon ear pieces are very prone to falling off. There is nothing actually locking them in place so the slightest brush can mean you've lost a crucial part of your very overpriced earbuds, and Apple offers no replacement solution. Also the rubber piece between the ear bud and the wire came loose within a couple months. Easily one of the most frustrating products I've ever bought.

Decent

I was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality of these earphones, the
mids & highs are sweet the bass however leaves something else to be desired, granted they don't even come close to my monster turbines but then it also depends on what you're listening to. Overall this is a pretty decent in ear speaker system but they are a little pricy.3 of 6 people found this useful

Great headphones on the 3GS
Written by GG from Edinburgh
7/12/2009
All the features work (including the volume) on the 3GS. The sound is crystal clear. At first I thought they sounded way too trebley. Change the ear covers for the large size and made sure they were in the ear fully and they sound great. A slight increase in bass would give them 5 stars, but I am more than happy listening to electronic/drum n bass and other dance genres with them.

Better than what I expected!
Written by TY from Doncaster

I always loved the remote control on my headphones for my iPod Mini, so when I upgraded to the iPod Touch and saw these headphones, I thought they were a must have.
The sound quality of these are great (much better than my Sony Noise Cancelling In-Ear headphones), however, as these I found the microphone feature a little useless for the iPod Touch (it will be great for the iPhone, but not iPod Touch).
The downside to the remote is that they are located on the cord of the right ear. I would have preferred it lower down and the length of the overall a little longer so that it can fit smuggly in my bag. The remote control also doesn't have the ability to turn off the iPod Touch, which was previous available on the remote on the Mini. Also, the double clicking, triple clicking for the next track/previous track is annoying. I really wouldn't mind if the remote control was a little larger with more buttons. It feels on the flimsy side. Was this useful?

Pretty Good . . .
Written by MS from ASHBURN

Sound quality is better than normal headphones, biggest difference to me is that these headphones cancel out other sounds much better. As for electric shocks, its true every once in a long while it will shock you, I don't think its a problem though. My biggest complaint is that they aren't recognized as a headset when using Bootcamp Windows XP on my Macbook Pro. Mac OSX will recognize and use them as a headset though. Also, cord is a little short, and I haven't been able to find an extender with all 4 pins so I can use it as a headset on my Macbook Pro.

Complete waste...very very poor
Written by JK from Salisbury

I bought these today (6th December 2009) to go with my recently purchased iPhone. If you are seeking to use these for anything other than phone calls then you not going to be very happy as they sounds very tin. Not worth £59. A very weak product that knocks a bit of the shine of the Apple brand.

The Best Headphones
Written by NH from CO
6/12/2009
I've listened to my friends' skullcandy, bose, and other headphones and they just don't compare to these. The Apple In-ear headphones have excellent bass and noise cancellation. By far these headphones have the best sound quality of any that I've ever tried. People complain that the bass isn't there at all, but like everyone else is saying you just have to push them into your ears a little.
They are a little bit brittle, seeing as the rubber on the bottom of the headphone fell off within a couple months. Also, if you rip them out of your ears, they silicon tips have a tendency to stay in your ears, but that's not usually a problem. You do have to reposition them often because after a while they will fall out. These problems are made much less prevalent by cleaning your ears often.
The pros of these headphones outweigh the cons, and I will definitely be using these for as long as they hold up. I recommend these to anyone.6 of 9 people found this useful

No replacement parts offered - even for a price
Written by KW from Burnaby

Although it's great they send you three sizes of the silicone ear tips, if you lose one of the ear tips in the size you use, you are out of luck. There are no replacements available - even if you are willing to pay for them. I lost the small ear tip, and now have to use the medium which doesn't fit and keeps popping out of my ear. After paying $90 for these headsets, I get angry every time I put them in because they don't fit. It's ridiculous that you can't get another set.

Apple in ear electro shock treatment
Written by JS from Pittsburgh
5/12/2009
I have always owned and been happy with the apple in ear headphones until now. I bought my current pair a few months back and since then. The small silicone right ear piece kept coming off and getting stuck in my ear, I put up with this as it did not bother me to the point were I wanted to take them back and it only happened on the odd occasion. But then came the cold weather. Now when I were them I get shocked at the slightest movement. I even had people in work plug them into their laptops and sit down and stand up and just holding them they also were receiving shock. Now my ears are throbbing from these things and I will never again put them in my ears. I will be taking them back and getting a new pair of noise canceling earphones that will not fry my brain and my ears. I am dissapointed because I loved the original release of these. If the apple store gives me any grief about returning after a number of months I will make them hold my earphones and move around the store. BOOOOOOOOOO!
PS: this is the first ever time I have felt let down by an apple product.14 of 22 people found this useful

electro shocks
Written by HR from Victoria
4/12/2009
Thought this was just me, but after reading the review of "MM from Ventura" I am almost relieved to find out that these things are in fact giving little electro shocks. My first reaction was, since it sounds a bit like a speck of dust on a vinyl record, that it was an error in the audio file, but then I realized, I don't just hear this, I *feel* it too. Even happier to hear that this seems to be related to -- dry weather...? Not so sure about that, but definitely noticed that it is either happening a lot (i.e. every 10 seconds), or not at all.
Soundwise okay, though not great, and the mic is good enough to use skype on my ipod touch, and that, in the end, is what I wanted.13 of 20 people found this useful

Very disappointing
Written by SY from Bronxville

For music lovers who enjoy the depth and complexity of the music they listen to, DON'T BUY THESE HEADPHONES! The sound quality is very poor and has virtually no base at all. I was completely disappointed and returned them the very next day.
I will agree with some of the other posts here in saying that the basic headphones that come with your iPod / iPhone have a MUCH better sound quality than these.
I replaced them with the Bose in-ear headphones and the sound quality is simply amazing.11 of 23 people found this useful

Shocking Sound
Written by SK from Phoenix
3/12/2009
Apple In-Ears have a nice, clean, robust sound! Very pleased with the quality!
However... when your environment (or you) starts to build static, the In-Ears happy discharge the build right in your ear. Via the metal cap inside the plugs (Shocking the inside of your ears, it hurts). Again... that only happens when given the right environment for static.8 of 8 people found this useful
