I do not recommend the Twelve south HiRise Stand

    • Written by from Toronto

    Pros:
    1. Once set up it looks not bad and is functional
    Cons:
    1. You have to bolt in you own cable. Other stands I have had, you just plug in a cable. If you want your cable for some other use, you can unplug it. With this unit, you cannot remove your cable unless you dismantle the entire thing.
    2. It says its adjustable but, realistically, it is put together with screws. So you cannot easily adjust it after the initial set up (to use with a different case or device, for example).
    3. You have to feed a cable though a little hole. It only worked on my new iPhone 6's cable, but did not work with my thunderbolt adapter for my older cables since the thunderbolt part is slightly fatter on the adapter.
    4. This is a smaller issue but I will say it anyway, it has a rather wide footprint on my desk.

Overall, if you have cables to spare, maybe this is not such a bad unit, but I do not recommend it.

    Moderate Product-flatters to deceive

    • Written by from LONDON

Product looks excellent, however the bottom piece that covers the wire in and holds the allen key always falls off when you lift up the piece. most annoyingly, it doesn't hold an iPhone in a case very easily and the lightening connector slips down out of the breach, meaning that you need to open the stand up and re-position the wire. All this means is that the holder is not a very good holder...wish I didn't spend the money on it.

Not as simple as it seems

    • Written by from Sydney

It comes in a few parts with tine screws not built for big hands.

AFter putting it together (jeez those tiny screws hated the big fingers), I have an iPhone 5S with an STM case, and an iPad Mini with a case ... the only problem being that both do not fit the same spacer connector, so it really only is built for one or the other

Careful which cable you use this with

    • Written by from Adelaide

The stand itself is a good concept to fit an iPhone while still in the case. It says designed exclusively to work with Apple lightning cable but this is misleading. It does not work with the 2 meter long Apple cable at all. Any cable too thick will not fit through the stand. I also tried to use it with a Belkin 2m cable and that also didn't work as Belkin makes the casing around the end of the cable too thick to fit into this stand.
Only buy if you will use with the stock 1.2m Apple cable.

    Cumbersome

    • Written by from Stanmore

I loved the look of this, however there are a few problems with it. The dock needs assembly which is a bit fiddly and time consuming. It also requires you to embed your own USB / lightning cable so once it's in, it stays there. If you ever need to disconnect it to use it without the dock, you have to disassemble the whole stand. Ended up purchasing a second USB cable which, all things considered, was more expensive than I intended. Such a shame.

    Not the greatest

    • Written by from Hawthorn

It is OK but I would not buy another one. The thing comes in pieces and you need to put it together with the supplied allen key which is fiddley and time consuming given the tiny screws and obscure angles. Getting everything lined up it a pain. The bottom plate is cruddy plastic that falls off whenever I move it. I don't use a case so I probably should have stuck with the bog standard apple doc which is nice and simple...

    no cable

Paying $35 for a dock that you have to put it together and it don't even come with a cable , that to me is like buying a soda without a can, buying a car without a wheel. Is just not a complete product. And I was stupid enough to brought two. The product looks Ok after you spend hour to put it together.

Flimsy & disappointing - don't be fooled by its appearance.

This stand looks like it's made of the durable aluminum from Apple products, but in fact feels much cheaper and much much less sturdy. It's also far more cumbersome to assemble than something this small should be. Very disappointing.

    Not Assenmbled

    • Written by from Weslaco

I don't think I read in description on how assembly of this item is required, plus you have to provide your own charging cable. Very disappointed in this item. I am not "assembly saavy". I tried assembling but got nowhere. Charging cable did not fit anywhere. Very frustrating. Back it goes.
