Cable was intermittent from day 1

If it was physically aligned in a very particular way, the cable would connect properly when it was new. Eventually it wasn't possible to make it work at all. I purchased this at an Apple store, but you have to work through the manufacturer for warranty replacement with a different instance of the same bad cable. Apple should be ashamed that they are selling this product. My advice is to spend the extra $40 for an Apple TV if you want to use your computer with an HDMI display.

    Don't Buy this cable

This cable broke as everyone says the mini display port end is weak and mine has gotten loose, now it will just not work at all! I have only had it for a couple of months and after paying $60 dollars am disappointed. Went and bought the mini display port with the HDMI adapter from a different brand and plugged in an HDMI to HDMI cord into it and it is a lot sturdier! The cord does not weigh it down like this one and I think it will last a lot longer. Definitely go for the adapter instead of this cord, plus it costs less.

Does what it's supposed to do.

The cable does exactly what it's designed to do. I love that I can get it in 2m or 4m lengths. The quality of the cable seems great, I haven't had mine break in the year and a half that I've owned it, but the Apple Store will replace it within two years if it does break - as long as a I keep my receipt.

I don't expect this cable to do 4K as the box clearly says "Mini-DisplayPort to HDTV" not "to UHDTV"

Does not hold up to regular plugging in and out. Fails to read often and eventually may even make your Mac shut down/restart or just die. The HDMI port is fine but it's the Mini display port side that's the problem. Do not buy. Waste of time and money! I've started researching alternatives already.

    2nd broken cable!! Zero Stars!!

    • Written by from Calgary

Bought our first cable and after a week of buying it and plugging it in/out maybe 5 times total the mini side metal housing broke off inside my mid 2012 MBP!! Using tweezers to remove the housing, took the cable back to Apple and they exchanged no problem. Got a longer life out of this second cable but now it's start to mess up. Poor connection issues and if the cable gets moved it flickers the tv and have to reset so display comes back on tv. Poor product, don't waste time, money and piece of mind on this piece of junk!!

Works like you'd expect; expensive but long enough :)

The end you plug in is a bit odd shaped, but it gets the job done. Admittedly I've never jerked around or tripped on the cable so I can't attest to its strength beyond that it works great with a projector near my ceiling.

It's main limitation is that for $60 you'd expect the cable to do everything an HDMI cable can, but while I've managed to get it to play back 3D content (I'm still not sure how if it doesn't officially support it) it likely won't play back 4K content as it doesn't explicitly say HDMI 1.4a UHD support. Either way, HDMI v2 isn't out yet, so it's a good buy if you're at the Apple store and know you need a long HDMI cable. :)

    Terrible cable

    • Written by from Dallas

I'm on my second one of these after the first one was replaced by the manufacturer for being defective after the store wouldn't take it back when it was just 3 weeks old. The cable is essentially weak on the mini-port side - the plug end can't hold up to everyday plugging in and unplugging and fails quickly.
