    Maybe get a Fitbit instead

    • Written by from Calgary

I have only tried the version 2 Up band but 2 have failed in 9 months. First one lost the ability to charge, while the second no longer can track steps. Wear it all day long with a half hour on the treadmill and it says I did 300 steps. Customer service is friendly enough but will not upgrade to a newer version which I would hope has fewer defects. I expect it to last longer than the 1 year warrantee. Clearly not capable of use as intended (24-7).

Beyond that the vaunted designer Yves Behar has ignored several hundred years of wrist watch design and made the band so thick that it is just barely tolerable to wear. In the worst case it occasionally aggravated my carpel tunnel syndrome, but you can get used to it. Not comfortable while using a computer. Fit Bit looks interesting and has a very thin band apparently.

    Best Band on the Market

    • Written by from Fleet

The band is a great design
The software is the best, beautiful design and easy to use
It's compatible with a large selection of the leading apps like run keeper and my fitness pal

Reasons for 1 star, and I am reviewing the ver2 JB UP here

Incredibly unreliable, went through 6 bands in 8 months, charging issues, button failures, would not sync, lights stopped working
The Jawbone support team are shocking in the UK, incredibly slow and unhelpful

    AVOID AVOID AVOID!

    Such a shame....

Recommend the Withings Pulse, not as polished as the JB UP, but a lot more reliable

    great product... but

    • Written by from london

I love my Up band, the software is great, sleep tracking awesome, accurate step measurement, battery lasts ten days, looks great... overall just brilliant.... but!
Im sad to say I'm on my third band after just six months.

I cannot fault customer services, they have been really very good about replacing it each time and have been prompt and courtious to deal with. i think its such a shame because this is a brilliant product when its working but both the original and the replacement both broke after just a couple of months of wear (button stopped working)
I really hope in the Up 24 these issues are adressed as jawbone must be hemoarraging money on this product which is sad because it is essentially really good when it works.

Bought a lemon, horrendous Jawbone customer service

    • Written by from Sydney

Had high hopes for this despite reading some great and very poor reviews. Didn't take long before the gremlins hit, wouldn't synch, needed constant rebooting etc.

Jawbone Customer Service was simply woefull. After backwards and forwards emails was silence then an email arrived advising they can provide a replacement but not to Australia and asked me what Europe based address a replacement could be sent to.

Bad quality and poor support in HK

    • Written by

After using for 5 months, some functions didn't work - couldn't switch to night mode, wake up alert not working, sometime the data couldn't be synchronized completely. I called the local support but they're not helpful. Finally they sent me a "new" one. However, after using for a week, it the "new" band didn't work.

Good at first, then repeated failures

    • Written by from Stamford

The UP band starts out really great, good at tracking steps and sleep, battery lasts approximately 10 days to a charge. Then the button starts to fail and it won't track steps any longer. Jawbone support was very polite and exchanged the device, however the replacement didn't last 2 weeks. Completely disheartened on the experience, took care of both bands, always removed before anything that could crush or bend the band, as well as before showering or washing my hands.

    Skip buying this one.

Not so good, but when it worked, it was great.

    • Written by from WESTLAKE

I purchased UP by Jawbone in July and have had to return it twice to the manufacturer. The band stopped synching the first time, and the the second time the band stopped charging. The same thing happened to my husband's band, just two weeks after my band broke. It has major design issues, but when it was working I loved the product. I would not recommend this item until they fix the quality issues.

I know there's problems with the sleep tracking, but people are more interested in their day activities. My children bought this device for my birthday, they were very worried about my health and severe weight issues, if my children were prepared to pay that amount I had to give it a go, it's changed my life completely, in 12 weeks I've managed to loose a mighty 36lb. From managing to do 1 mile in 35 mins to 1 mile in 15.7 mins, from only managing 1 mile a day to averaging 10 good miles a day. Of course this includes eating healthy. I have never exercised in my life and at 56 this is a first for me. Jawbone, Apple and most of all thanks to my kids for this magnificent piece of equipment.

    Deceiving

    • Written by from Canterbury

I wanted this product since the first gen but it didn't come to the UK until march 2013 when I was finally able to purchase it. Worked like a charm until June and the battery dropped dead. In total the product lasted exactly 3 months, which isn't all that good for a £100 bracelet. Instead of getting a replacement mostly due to a lack of interest I forgot about it and never got a replacement until today. We will see if it shares the same fate as the previous one.

    Excellent Product

    • Written by from Versailles

I haven't had any issues with my UP band. The battery is excellent on it which I am really fortunate about. The only issue I have heard of about the UP band is from my fiancée who lost the cap to it. Jawbone sent her a new cap no questions asked. I love it, and have recommended it to several friends.

The up band has so many features that it even benefits a lazy person like myself. It tracks steps, workouts, sleep, calories (and other food tracking) & has its own social media for encouragement. One of my favorite features is th gentle wake Smart Alarm. It vibrates to wake you up in the am. It can also vibrate to let you know you've been inactive for a certain amount of time to get you up and moving. On top of that, the battery lasts from 7-10 days. Great product.

Do not buy this as a gift for someone!!!!!!

    • Written by

I bought the UP for my friend at the Apple store in California. My friend was excited to use it, but from the box the bracelet did to work. He tried everything to get it to work, he is an engineer... soft and hard reset. It finally worked for a few days. He contacted the company and understood that the company knows that the UP has an out of the box, high failure rate. He returned it to me saying the bracelet is junk, and said if you want to frustrate and disappoint a friend then give them the UP. If you do not mind experimenting with a product that may not work as soon as you get it, it is your time to waste, but do not buy this as a gift for anyone.

the UP band is awful. I purchase the band in May and it's been broken more then its been working. The customer service people at UP and really helpful and they typically send out a band whenever I call but this is my 3rd band and its getting frustrating.

I went with UP b/c it has great features, its able to track steps, sleep and you can enter your food intake, but whats the use if its broken more than it works. Pay the extra $20 and go with the nike fuel band. A few of my friends have the nike band and they seem to love it, and there are no complaints about the bands being defective.

Waiting is probably your best option

I purchased this in hopes that the data collected will help me stay focused on my fitness routine. The main issue with this product is that it does not hold up. When its working it is worthwhile(maybe not worth the cost) it does what you need it to do and the iphone integration is key. Except once it starts having issues, its done-game over. I am currently having issues with mine. Over heating when I charge it. Not collecting data. Jawbone customer service so far is weak. I would not recommend this product just yet. Down the Road perhaps. Jawbone needs to make it last more than a couple of months of use.

    Don't buy jawbone up

    • Written by from Chennai

I used it 2 months continuously and then gave it up. Why?

    1. You will lose the cap (I lost mine on a flight)
    2. You will forget to tell the device that you are going to sleep and you are awake.
    3. You’ll be bored syncing it (you have to remove it every time to sync and as you add more data sync gets slower).
    4. The button to switch between day and night mode is poor design

It's fun to think how it will change everything for you (if metrics is all you needed) but then this product is far from perfect.

    Taking back band no'4 today

    • Written by from leicester

The up band is great, I am always telling people how brilliant it is, I should get paid by jawbone for selling them! They are great that is until they break, frequently. The apple shop are very good, whenever I bring the jawbone back they exchange it no problem. It's tiring though, the band seems to last just over a month before something goes wrong, the problems I have had include; the band stops registering sleep, the band does not hold charge, the bands indicator lights stop working & the band doesn't register running, only walking. I have got to be honest I'm bored of it now, I don't know whether to go for a different band such as the fitbit, or just give up all together. Tracking my movements did make me walk more for the first few months, but now it's just common sense; move more, stay healthy. The endless logging of meals & other activities other than walking is a chore, I enjoy alternative forms of exercise like dancing and horse riding, neither of these are in the jawbone system, so I have to pick a form of exercise which I think would be vaguely similar.

    It still needs work

    • Written by from Decatur

I am on my 5th, yes 5th, UP band since December. That is an average of 1 UP band every 2.25 months. I am on the 4th replacement of my mint green one, and I am sending my dark purple one back for a refund. I LOVE this device. I LOVE the app. But it just doesn't hold up the way it should. I am not rough on these things. Jawbone has great customer service and I have never had a problem getting a replacement. But it gets old having to call every couple of months and go through the troubleshooting process and have them send you a new one then take the old to mail it for return. The mint green one was working just fine, I got my purple one so I stopped using the mint green one for a month. Now the mint green one won't even charge, and I haven't even been using it! And after the one year warranty is up, you are out of luck and probably the not so proud owner of a dead band. Or as in the case of my purple one, a band that won't vibrate, the sun won't light up anymore and it was having issues syncing with the phone. I am so dissapointed that they are still having some of the same issues as the first generation. I really want to keep using this device. But after my mint green one dies for the last time (once out of warranty), I will be done with this product.
