    Great for small desks

    • Written by from Toronto

I have my 27' iMac on what could be the smallest desk dimension available at IKEA. My iMac accessories such as ext. HDD and ODD were just scattered on my desk until I got this neat gizmo - with my iMac base set on the highest height setting on HiRise, I now have decent room to put both my peripherals + other goodies as well.

I would have to point out though it felt quite overpriced for what it offers.

    CRACKING PIECE OF KIT

    • Written by from Leicester

Was reluctant to spend £70 at first, but well worth it. It has raised my Thunderbolt display to a comfortable viewing level now. I keep my Mac Mini inside it, it looks really neat and tidy on the desk now.

Don't see the point of using the screws as the magnets hold perfectly.

Going to buy the BackPack shelf next or maybe even two.

    Strong and Reliable

    • Written by from Warrington

The HiRise gives an extra aesthetic appeal to your desktop while heightening the screen at 6 customisable levels. I was a little disheartened by what looks like to be a strong glue that holds a rubber seal on. The allen key provided is weak and wears easy and doesn't provide much pivot support to tighten the screws. Leaving that aside, a brilliant piece of kit.

    AMAZING

The hirise is so easy to put together and is very sturdy! I store my hard drives underneath and is great!

    Functional and Stylish

    • Written by from Canton

The product does exactly what it is meant for although not much more. The craftsmanship is excellent, sturdy, and stylish. When using the monitor looks at bit more heavy than I would want. It takes away some from the sleek-ness of the monitor, however, a necessary trade off to elevate to a comfortable height.

    Same Fit and Finish Issues

    • Written by from White Lake

I also have issues with the fit, the side of the top and bottom, at front and back, do not align properly. You make one side's top and bottom line up, say front R then the back L is thrown off. Fortunately the mis-alignment is not enough to cause problems putting the back and front covers on, they do not show significant gaps and stay relatively flush. Sliding the shelf in was more difficult than need be, maybe spraying some silicone on the plastic wrapped edges would help? It didn't require my full body weight as another's review.

The screws seem on the small side, and look fragile as though they could strip even being a hex and not slotted or phillips. Definitely be careful and don't over tighten the back plate or your iMac may be permanently locked into the HiRise.

These two issues have me knock it down one star each. It definitely tidies up my desktop as I can place a TB HDD across the top and not have to reach around either side to turn it on. I placed a USB hub inside the HiRise out of site, and another TB HDD on the 12 South BackPack behind my iMac.

Overall a great idea but for $80 QA should be better!

    20 inch 2006 Imac

    • Written by from Cordova

Great product and well made with easy setup. I like the magnetic doors which can be secured or left on with just the magnetic covers. It lifted my screen up which really made a difference in the view of my old iMac . This company has some quality products and am very impressed with the craftsmanship and design. It got my desktop cleaned up allowing me to put items like my keys, iPhone, or small external drives to be placed out of the way. I highly recommend this product.

    Very Good - But

    • Written by from ILFRACOMBE

Lets admit it the one thing the iMac requires is a height adjustment. Not a show stopping problem on a 27" iMac but still a major niggle if long hours are spend working at the machine.

The riser itself is very well made and as with most of 12 South kit very well thought out. Good material match to the iMac and simply to put together.

But and heres the but, it does not seem to blend with the iMac, it just looks slightly out of place, a little too industrial?

It raises the unit very well, provides good balance, but something is just missing?.

Overall the best riser on the market, but could be slightly less industrial in its looks.

    Elevated praise

    • Written by from Telford

I purchased two of these HiRise stands when I first saw them advertised. At the time they were not available in the UK so I ordered them directly from Twelve South in the US. They arrived within a week for a flat delivery rate of $25 (taxes do apply). I have one each for my two MacPro displays and they have elevated the displays to a much more ergonomic level for viewing and working. They are both stylish and versatile (even the boxes they come in are versatile). I use one to house a 3TB Time Capsule, the other various smaller Apple bits and pieces, but because of this I have not used the little screws to attach the front panels, no need they are magnetic. Other items sit on the flat tops. Twelve South thought of everything.

    Brilliant.

    • Written by from Peterborough

I just purchased the HiRise for my late 2012 27" iMac. I have the shelf on the 4th step from the bottom and have hidden my LaCie Porsche 3TB Hard-drive that I am using as a Time Capsule on the bottom of the HiRise and then on top of the iMac Stand I have put my Apple Superdrive. I also have various cables hidden inside as well.

This product is very well designed, worth the price and looks perfect with an iMac.

It hides the cables very well and gives my iMac that boost in hight that I needed. The only thing that could make it better would be to do a additional insert that could raise the total height of the HiRise.

A definite must buy accessory if you appreciate apple style minimalism, design and use.

    Fantastic product by Twelve South

    • Written by from Brisbane

    Love it.

The box it came in was simple yet visually nice and was so easy to put together and adjust. My 27" iMac (Late 2011) was sitting just a bit low for my likings so I got this and it is brilliant, elevates my iMac plus gave a better place to put my 1TB Firewire drive which is always connected.

Brilliant piecing of work! Would recommend to anyone

    QA Issues Perhaps?

    • Written by from Waterloo

I read a number of reviews all praising the novelty of the HiRise and the ease of installation. I decided I wanted one since it's a much more elegant solution than raising my iMac with a textbook.

I expected the installation to be a breeze, but it truly wasn't. It looks very foolproof, with clear instructions on how to assemble the HiRise. However, for some reason, the one I received was just not precisely cut to slide together easily. I eventually needed to use nearly my entire body weight to slide the top and bottom pieces together against the floor, which from other reviews I read was absolutely not necessary. I can only chalk it up to back luck and the top and bottom pieces were just not made well for each other. It's safe to say that I will probably never disassemble the HiRise ever again, if it's even possible.

Now that I've set it up though, my desk looks amazing! Too bad the installation had to be so rough. My suggestion to Twelve South is to improve on the QA and perhaps test the fit of the top and bottom pieces before packaging.

    Elevates and tidies

    • Written by from San Francisco

I'm using Hi-Rise to elevate my iMac, it's tidied up my desk and all my cables, USB hub and blu-ray drive are neatly enclosed behind the removable front panel. The magnetic front and back panel make getting access to the interior simple - there are screws if you need more security, but I prefer the easy access.

If you're placing USB cables/devices inside Hi-Rise route the cables through the cut out in the iMac/Display's stand and in to the back of Hi-Rise for a tidy appearance.

You have to assemble Hi-Rise yourself, but it's trivial. All the parts are perfectly machined and slide together easily. The result is a very solid and study product.
