    Everything as expected

So I've used this for over two years now. First of all that is really saying something - 2 years with the way products are made these days is pretty amazing. I originally bought it so I didn't wake my wife or my sleeping baby. Worked perfectly. I have used it since so I can wake up and it has yet to fail me. (over two years!)

An added bonus was the sleep monitoring - good sleep really does wonders for your attitude and productivity. This has really helped me to understand good sleep patterns and a lot about what affects mine.

Only downside is the size of the unit. I place it reversed so it is on the inside of my wrist and let it slide down my arm a little. Doesn't really bother me at all. I would highly recommend it even though I know some people would be bothered by it.

For me - if I had any notion they were going to stop selling it - I'd buy one and keep it in reserve until they come up with a smaller one.

I saw this in the Apple store last fall and thought that it would be helpful as my sleep patterns are very erratic. So I was pretty happy when I opened a Christmas present and found this.

I used it for a three week trial and was given the same result each time. They did give suggestions on helping to improve my sleep patterns. You are only given one 7 day trial for free. So I registered my wife and she also did the 7 day trial, then my 18 year old daughter did as well. What was interesting is that all three of us pretty much received the same summary (other than a few word changes) and let me tell you my wife and daughter sleep far better than I do.

I've used my Lark for three months now. It was an interesting purchase, but the frustrations have now outweighed the novelty. I think I'll toss it and wait for the next generation of sleep monitors.

Alarm: and snooze work reliably without waking anyone else.

Stats: it's good for tracking my average amount of sleep, but the value of the other measures is questionable because it is based on movement. For example, if I lie awake for awhile but don't move, it counts that as falling asleep right away. Also, I'm not sure how reliable movement is as a proxy measure for how deep I'm sleeping - and that's really what I want to know.

Upgrades: it would be great to be able to do more with it, but it seems that they are not putting any resources into further development at this stage. Maybe they're putting all their efforts into the Larklife product?

Support: it's been a little glitchy, and I get the feeling that they are minimizing the resources on post-purchase support, to maximize the profits on a soon-to-be-obsolete product.

Control: You can't download your stats, they have them all on their server. This is really irritating as I can't adjust incorrect stats, evaluate the numbers on my own, or delete their copy of my stats. Also, this morning it won't let me into my account, so I've essentially lost all my data for the last three months, and I'm at their mercy.

    best alarm ever

I admit it. Without my hearing aids, I'm lost. Thus prior to the Lark, I had a siren with strobe light that also vibrated the bed. It would wake the dead and the deaf! Unfortunately, it would also wake my normal-of-hearing husband. I didn't realize how stressed we both were by waking this way until I decided to spring for the Lark. What!!! Waking up with a gentle tap on the wrist instead of being screamed at, strobed, and shaken??? How civilized is this? The addition of the sleep data is really quite nice since you get a good handle on your sleep patterns, but the main selling point is the absolutely delightful way to wake up with a gentle tap on the wrist. I'm now buying a second one for my husband's Christmas stocking. If you like having a buzzer or alarm go off next to your head, then by all means continue with the traditional alarm clock. If you prefer the idea of being gently tapped to wake, then run don't walk to buy this thing. If you are hard of hearing--don't EVEN think about it. Just get it.

After reading some of the postings I purchased this product and was bitterly disappointed. It works find until you lose the Bluetooth pairing at which point it becomes a pain to reestablish the connection. After several attempts and some frustration I gave up and bought a Fitbit One which is a better engineered product with more features.

    Half a trick pony....

I have to agree with Lee C....
I had high hopes for the LARK.... purchased it from across the pond as I was so eager to try it out.....
Extremely disappointed.... although the concept is exciting.... the lark dive bombed.... The battery lasts one night.... on the odd occasion it lasted less than that..... even after it had charged all day.... I did not see reason for the oversized dock.... It looked awkward with the iphone sitting in it and the cable spiralling from the back of the dock to the iphone.... looked untidy..... the wrist device was would be better suited with a sweatband with sewn in pocket rather than the cheap looking strap with loop sewn in... I was conscious I was wearing it all night... was not exactly comfortable.... a sweatband combination would delete the sharp edge of the strap on your skin....

The vibrating motor is supposed to alternate it's pattern so it wakes you up.... that was noisy... so it could wake up your partner too....
The online monitoring..... was basic... leads you into purchasing the enhanced online version... but from the initial experience of the LARK.... that stopped me from investigating the potential any further...
It is a first generation product.... that said.... the Jawbone Up (1st generation) was better at waking you up... while it lasted.... My search continues for a device, that does what this promises....

    For $100 - - very UNIMPRESSED!

Actually, for any cost, I'm unimpressed.
The first night, I set it up, I used it, but it couldn't get into my account because apparently my password was wrong. Tried to reset the password, was prompted that a new password reset would be sent to my mail. Never arrived. Tried again a few days later, email never arrived. Even switched email addresses thinking it was an error in my email... still nothing.

In the meantime though, you can use it solely as an alarm rather than sleep tracker. So that's what I did. Set the Lark, with a backup just in case. I was not lulled out of sleep in the morning. I was jolted by how strong the vibrations were.

Next night, tried it again. No back up alarm. The battery died and suffice it to say, did not wake me up and I missed the first 1.5 hours of work that day.

It has now been 10 nights, and it has not lasted through the night yet. Went online, and this is a topic of theirs on their troubleshooting tab, so clearly I'm not the only one. Says to update the app. Well, there's no update available for that app.

So far, very annoyed that LARK would create, and apple would selling something so unreliable. Waiting to hear back from the email to their support staff.

Not impressed, 30-day warranty shows lack of confidence in product

Have had Lark for under a year and it is toast. Only 30 day warranty? Are you joking? For a $100 item I expect more, especially from Apple. I own a Mac, power Mac, three iPhones and an iPad and to purchase such a product that is not consistent with these devices is dissapointing. Features great, actual product quality horrible. Will be more cautious to buy cheaper items from Apple. Thought they could do no wrong, but they did. Don't buy the Lark, not worth your hard earned money.

Package design is great and the product has great potential BUT

The product needs work. The first night, the battery ran out in less than 5 hours, the 2nd night, it would not allow alarm to be set (Bluetooth connection made but the app said it was.not connected). I doubt a connection between this and another app enabled accessory purchased at the same time, but neither worked. If you are going to give it a shot, I recommend purchasing online unless you live close to an Apple store.

    hasn't woken me yet

The vibration is very weak. Much weaker than an iPhone. Thus far in four tries it has failed to wake me. Most recently it claims to have lost bluetooth connection during night even though phone is at side of bed and plugged into USB charger. It may work as a sleep monitor, but very disappointing as an alarm clock.

    Excellent silent alarm

As a silent alarm to wake you up without disturbing your partner, this is an excellent product. For me, the sleep monitoring is more of an interest - bordering on a gimmick. Not that there is anything wrong with the sleep monitoring function but it is not at all what I needed. I needed a way to reliably wake up at all odd hours without disturbing anyone else. For that, this is a truly excellent solution - reliable and effective.

This device is simply amazing! i recommend it to anyone. The only trouble I had was the connection and getting started. All I did was google my problem and it gave me instructions right away. I love the lark alarm clock so much that I just want to sleep all day just to see how well I slept. Even waking up is great! The vibration on the wrist band wakes you up so you feel like you have woken your self up. This is a great buy!

The is an interesting product, I originally used Wakemate however after my experience with Lark I am now happy with Wakemate again.

I have had the lark system since 30/06/2012 and have been upload anything to the Lark servers, since they are USA based then can only respond when they are awake.

Lark does now work in the UK as MyLark is down everyday day, for the entire day in the UK :(

Purchased this in the Apple Store in Manchester. There is something so nice about not being woken up by an audible alarm. I feel so much better right away after waking up. The only negative I can say is that it still wakes my partner up in bed as the vibration can be felt through the mattress, if its touching it.

The app is great. Ive only used it for a few nights but the sleep monitoring is cool and helpful. It highlights that while I aim to get 7-8 of sleep a night I wake up and average of 5 times per night, meaning i get closer to 6 hours. I am changing my habits to take this into account.

    The built quality is great.

Ok first I have to say it works. Meaning that first It can wake me up. Second I didn't notice any blue tooth com problem with my iPhone 4. But I notice some sync problems with web account . Don't know why. Finally I believe that is quit accurate on sleep quality issue. That the main reason I have one of those gadgets... It is an interesting gadget

Good Marketing Gone Bad.....or, You can't rate it ZERO

What a great idea, so great that I didn't do my normal blog diligence and purchased. What a joke this thing is. Who wants to wake up and remember their lock code on their iPhone just so the thing will shut off ? No offense, but do you really all sleep with your iPhone by your bedside and the docking device for the Lark....... really ? Multiple connection issues and I have a 4S that rocks my Jawbone Jambox and other Bluetooth devices but not the LARK. Such incredible marketing and design and a hard (on the device) shut off couldn't be incorporated ????? Really ?? I know, I say Really alot. Anyway, I suppose it works for some that are very detailed in their pre-bed and post wake up routines but for me it caused bad sleep.

    LARK tech support

I had a problem with my LARK sensor (dog chewed it up), there were no similar problems on the FAQ's. I contacted tech support. They were helpful and very timely in their response. It's nice to know LARK backs up it's product with more than just talk. The alarm is intuitive to use and performed as advertised.
