Got this as a Christmas gift and my god...the quality of sound is incredible!! Now personally I don't really have patience when it comes to my music making ,so the fact it's essentially plug n play through my Mac and iPad, this is perfect. Throw it in my gig bag with my iPad and when something pops in the brain...BAM....recorded. Cannot say enough good things about this product. If you are a Mac user and guitarist/bassist you need this in your life. The only thing I have noticed (and I haven't looked into this yet) when I have the jam plugged in and forget to close GarageBand when I'm done, I get a signal delay. Easily solved by closing GarageBand and restarting. I also unplug all connections and reconnect them (force of habit from my job). But all in all hands down best product out there.

    Apogee Jam is the best!

    • Written by from Dallas

I've tried another rig (analog) and had problems with line noise, signal loss, and less than stellar sound quality. The Apogee Jam is phenomenal! It's easy to use, the cables are all interchangeable and work well, and it is CLEAN. The sound quality makes things sound professional. Now if I could only play that professionally... (LOL)!

    Just perfect!!

This product is just unreal!! All of your need to gig just in your pocket. Sound is very hot&real just like a tube amp. Noise is minimum, nothing to worry. I'm using this with jamup xt with metal signature pack, it blows me away. If you need something like this, don't think too much.. Just buy it, you don't regret.

I'm learning guitar and I LOVE this product. I never knew GarageBand was so useful! I mostly use the amplifiers, but I can easily see someone with more skill making this thing dance. Must have product.

    Good, but not great.

    • Written by from Santa Monica

It does what it says, but does pick up a bit of a buzz if your laptop is floating (not plugged in to the wall).

    The Jam's great - but a 35% price rise in 12 months?

    • Written by from Mount St Thomas

I love the Jam; it does what it does, as good as you could hope. It's clean, simple, and together with Garageband it can make a rubbish guitar soar.

But when I bought mine from the Apple store last December it was $119, and less than a year later it's $160.

    Times must be tough.

    Second to none

It's my second Apogee (I own MIC which I love). I'll just say this: no latency and no hum. Almost unreal. Crystal clear signal. Absolutely brilliant.

Most convenient and easy to use interface I own, and the cheapest. Plugged it in straight out of the box without any driver hassle to deal with. Arrived within 24 hours too from time of order.

Apogee JAM - A Fantastic Device

    • Written by from Carol Stream

I bought this unit, plugged it in - it worked perfectly right off the bat. No drivers to install. I could not have asked for a better result. I highly recommend the Apogee JAM. It is however a little pricey — but as they say — you get what you pay for.

It Works Great First and Every Time !!!

    • Written by from Kings Park

It's true it works great right out of the box. The first time I used it I had so much fun I didn't even realize I had been playing it for over 2 hours. I can finaly play my electric guitar in my house again. This lets me play like I am kickin my amp up full volume, and not disturb anyone .
    I LOVE IT !!!

    Great product! Love it!

Just upgraded to the Apogee Jam and have been loving it. So far I have used it with Ampkit and GarageBand and it works seamlessly. Easy setup and easy to use. Would recommend to any guitar player looking for mobility or the ability to mess around with different setups.

    Love it!

    • Written by from Hopkinton

I just got this today, and I can already tell it is a brilliant product. It worked right out-of-the-box, with only a little bit of fiddling. The only gripe I have isn't really with the Jam, it's with GarageBand. I feel like GarageBand should have a button or switch that turns the input on, or off. As it is, I have to exit the app and re-enter until the light on the jam turns green. Not a big problem, just a thought.
Overall great device! I would recommend it to anyone.

For the price you'd expect to get a quality product, and the Jam is no exception. The sound quality is pristine, the device is very well built and it's versatile as well (works with Macs and iPhones/iPads). I also like the fact that it uses a cable to connect. The only downside I've stumbled upon is that the Jam is a bit too light, but that's not really a huge problem since it comes with a bit of velcro. I've used the Apogee Jam with an iPhone 4s and a mid-2009 MacBook Pro, and I haven't had any latency or noise issues whatsoever.

Great professional grade product using digital input

    • Written by from Fortitude Valley

Be wary if you have an iPad 3 or 4 or an iPhone 5 as the 30 pin Apple connector will not fit. I use mine on my iPad 2 and it works so well I travel with it all the time. Heaps smaller than a small practice amp and every tone you could ever want. Also allows to record direct and then mix and match. It is powered by the i device and has a coloured LED to assist setting the gain of the device so you do not run into digital distortion problems. The only way this could be improved would be if it plugged into my iPhone 5 without using the expensive Apple adapter which basically adds $30 to the price if you wish to use it on the lightning connected i devices. I use Ampkit for the software, (available from the app store) and the final result is awesome. Alternatively you can use Garage Band if you already have it.

    Brilliant Apogee Jam

    • Written by from Preston

I bought the Apogee JAM to be able to plug my Fender Stratocaster in and use Garage Band. It is absolutely fabulous and well worth the money. There is no latency experience in my set-up. I use it with my iMAC, my iPhone 5, and my iPAD with Retina Display (classed as the New iPad). Contrary to other reviews, it also works perfectly with the free iRig Apps on both my iPad and iPhone. I could not have made a better purchase without upgrading to a more expensive professional set-up.

    Sounds great

    • Written by from montreal

I first bought the Peavey Ampkit Link and I was not impressed because it is very noisy. I have just received the Jam and it is way superior. I use it with the Amkit App for iPad (which I recommend). With the Jam, the sound is so clean; no need for a Noise Gate. It does not require batteries. The light that tells you whether your input is too high makes setting it up very easy. It feels more sturdy too. It is more expensive but you get what you pay for. No doubt why Apple sells it and recommends it.

    Fantastic device!!

    • Written by from Everett

I have a Apogee Duet on my IMac and I just love it so when it came time to get something for my iPad and iPhone the JAM was preferred product. I am stunned by the sound quality! The one thing that really impressed me about the idea of recording to my IDevice was that there is no buzz, no 60 cycle hum! I have a stock 1972 Telecast Thinline with 40 year old wiring and it has never sounded so clean. Apogee has impressed me once again with we'll built great sounding product!

    Works great on Mac too

    • Written by from London

I'm using this with Garageband and Logic Pro on an iMac. Works very well indeed, no delay on my system. I'm using this with various active bass guitars and the quality is excellent. I'm tracking basslines into multitrack recordings and them sending them off for mixdowns, so even if my ability was poor enough to not notice a delay, others would! I haven't tried it on my iPad yet, but just wanted to make sure that with GB/Logic on a Core i7 iMac, it's working very well indeed.
