    Great when they are working

    • Written by from Galveston

Started off with 10 cart of 10 iPad 2's each in a new elementary school. Great upgrade to the original iPad cart "solution" from Bretford, (a Macbook cart converted for iPad use). This one can charge OR sync 30 iPads simultaneously. When everything is working properly, it is great. We have since added 130 iPad 2's and four more carts to go 1:1.
Great for updating a class set of iPads in Configurator or restoring iPad backups in iTunes.

I really like that the slots are numbered, but would probably be easier to read if they were cut out of the space on top of the shelves instead of in front. The charging indicators are a great idea, but the placement on the back of the cart is not very helpful if you have the cart against a wall in a classroom.

On one of the carts individual ports stopped syncing and powering. Two more carts are not operating at all. No power. There is very little available for troubleshooting problems on these carts.

Reliability is a concern of mine. Great when they work, headaches when they don't.

I think my workplace has four of these carts now, they seem to work pretty well. Nicely made, moves around easily, cool status lights, gets the job done.

    Positives
    -30 iPads at once. Awesome.
-Charges them all independent of a computer
    -Just 1 power cord
    -Holds iPads securely

    Negatives
    -Man this things expensive.
-Build quality is good, but not $2600 good.
-Status lights are on the BACK of the unit.. against the wall (usually)
-Cords are thick and stiff, and fit loosely in the iPads

    Inadequate Theft Prevention

We purchased one cart. The iPads fit nicely, but the USB cables were difficult to use easily and the cart’s design and construction is not good. A student showed us how they could steal iPads from the cart without the use of tools even when the cart doors were locked. I would not recommend this cart to be used in an educational setting.

A Powerful Tool but Very Expensive

    • Written by from Scottsboro

I just used two of these carts to upgrade and sync 700+ iPads for a K-12 school deployment. The cart made the impossible possible by allowing us to update/image 60 iPads at once instead of having to do them one at a time. As far function these carts worked perfectly.

    The Good:
    - Allows charging, updating, syncing of up to 30 iPads at once
    - Very well built, you won't have to worry about it falling apart
    - Compact size for what it can store

    The Bad:
    - VERY expensive, almost to the point where K-12 education can't even consider using them for anything other than special use like I described above
    - The cables could stand to be another 1/2" to 1" longer
    - The 30 pin connectors aren't made as good as the ones that come with an ipad. Some can be hard to connect to an iPad and some have to be inserted just right to make a data connection
    - Needs connection lights on the front since the 30-pin connectors have issues, have to walk around and look at the back to make sure all iPads are connected

    Very Useful

We've used it for updating the OS software a number of times with no problems. It syncs all of the iPads simultaneously, both contrary to what the last review says. We're hoping iOS5 clears up a lot of issues but the main thing is that you need a physical connection (USB) right now to put the wireless information and this has made that process very fast using the iPhone Configuation Utility.
