Started to have issues, then a month later went dead!

    • Written by from Half Moon Bay

I bought this adapter at the recommendation of the staff at the apple store after I bought my new 17" MacBook Pro. I do a lot of teaching using overhead projectors and external monitors very frequently and I was assured that this would be the most reliable adapter to get for my purposes. I have owned this adapter for a total of three months and began noticing issues with my computer struggling to recognize my external monitor or the overhead projectors about a month ago. Well, yesterday the adapter died completely in the middle of a work project and has not worked since. I was forced to daisy chain a Mini DP to VGA adapter to a VGA to DVI adapter to get back up and running; it works but the images are analog and not the same quality.

I am extremely disappointed in this adapter's as it cost $35 and barely lasted 2 months before having issues and ultimately failing in three months. I was saved by two cheap $5 adapters that have way more hours of use than this one $35 adapter. This adapter does carry a one year warranty through Moshi, so we will now see how they back their products.

    Broke after 3 months

    • Written by from San Francisco

    Glorious while it lasted.

Terrible headache once it started cutting out every 5 minutes.

Trying the Dr. Bott version, so far so good.

    Works but has problems

    • Written by from Dublin

I bought this adapter for my new iMac 27" a month ago. It is connected with a HDMI 1.4 cable to my 42" 1080p LCD TV using the Thunderbolt port. iMac and TV recognized one another right away. While I love that it carries HD video and sound through one adapter there is one annoying problem with this adapter: white artifacts on my tv! Whether I am playing video or not, it still has all these little flickering white specks on my second display which is very annoying. The adapter cable is kind of flimsy and seems cheaply made. I've tried to hold it straight but it makes no difference.

I am using a Macbook Pro 15 inch early 2011. I am using this from my mac thunderbolt port and connecting the HDMI Cable to this adapter. I get Video and Audio, the quality if very good! I was able to watch GBTV on my tv from my mac! Watched you tube as well, and other videos on my mac. Great quality so far!

Has broken after very limited usage of two months. Absolute garbage. I should have listened to the other reviewers.

    Doesn't work

    • Written by from FORT LEE

It simply does not work... at all.
It deserves a rating of less than one star.

My MacbookPro 17" has worked seamlessly with alternate display devices, in foreign countries, with the Apple VGA adapter... plug and go !

HDMI is fast becoming the standard in display monitors; hopefully there will be a reliable solution.

Thankfully, Apple does have a decent return policy.

Stopped working after four days. Now I've looked into this I can see that this is a very common problem with these adaptors. Don't take my word for it, google it and see how many people this has happened to

    Not so convenient!

    • Written by from PHOENIX

I purchased the Moshi Mini DP to HDMI Adapter when I purchased my Mac Book Pro last March & I thought this would be a great tool to allow me to use my tv as a huge monitor. I was correct that it was great while it lasted, but that wasn't for long. After my second use of the adapter, the casing began to separate, making the "convenient" adapter, not so convenient. Unless I sat directly in front of my tv & didn't move at all, the casing would separate & continue to disconnect my connection, causing even more frustration. There are better quality & cheaper priced comps out there. Beware!

    bad quality product

    • Written by from Palmerston North

After using it for 4 months it does not work anymore, as if the wiring has come loose internally. I take good care of products, so this was not a handling issue, much rather a manufacturing issue. Very expensive poor product

    Overpriced and ineffective.

    • Written by from Milwaukee

Overpriced and ineffective. This adapter stopped working in less than ten uses; it is designed as such. Read up on the poor reviews of this product. They are more representative of the low-quality product you will be spending your hard-earned money on.

    This product is horrible.

    • Written by from Woburn

This adapter doesn't work with all monitors and is always lags. The biggest problem though is it doesn't work with any projectors. I tried playing with the setting like the manual for the projector told me too. I tried my friends that was a different manufacturer and it works perfect.

    Spontaneously Unable to Connect

    • Written by from Rochester

I've been watching movies off my 2011 Macbook Pro for months now, then a few weeks ago my Macbook just stopped recognizing an external display. I tried different cables and HDMI ports, no success.

I researched online, tried updating some firmware and whatnot, didn't find an explanation until I read the reviews for this product. I can't believe this product has the Apple guarantee, I'm going to bring it into the store and see what I can do to remedy this.

Worked a few times when I first got it with my 2011 MBP. Excellent HDMI cable still works fine. But this adapter has failed after not too many uses. Very disappointing, especially when the price is considered.
