    breaks after 4 month repeatedly

I am through my second Moshi adapter in 9 month. I don't know what the problem is but they all start to loose contact; first once in a while and one has to pull and plug them again; after a while they wont work anymore. Its seems that the adapter is poor quality where the cable connects to the dongle. The HMDI cable has big plug and thus exerts a torque on the cable where it connects to the dongle. Already the brand new dongle does not lie flat on the table but is rotated versus the MiniDP thus creating the torque. I hope Moshi will improve the adapter or this may be Apples way to say, Thou Shalt not Watch any TV besides Apple TV ;-)

Very poor quality product. I bought it for my MBP to project to my Sony Bravia TV, and it worked 2x and stopped... I exchanged it at my local comp. Store and the second one did the same thing. Junk!

    Bad connection and weak design

The connection between the Mini DisplayPort and the Moshi adapter is very bad and requires playing around with to give a stable connection. Once working, it needs only the slightest jog to disconnect the computer and make the laptop switch back to 13" mode. At one point this was happening every 15 seconds (connecting/disconnecting) that my computer froze out on a grey screen, something I've never seen before.

The pins in the adapter have also been bent beyond use, not that I was being particularly ham-fisted with it, its a weak design.

That said when it worked it did the job.

Quit working after 3 months. Friend bought a cheaper one from Best Buy at same time and it still works. I kept very good care of it so this wouldn't happened but still quit. Go to moshi's website and you will see in the reviews that this happens all the time with this product.

Broke after less than a year

We've used this lightly over the past year and it broke. The cable is very rigid, so the slightest movement feels like it's breaking something. Sure enough, less than a year in and the connection is extremely spotty.

There aren't a lot of options, but I would recommend a different product.

This is is a USELESS piece of JUNK! I bought it to hook my laptop up to my monitor and it stopped in less than 3 months -- no signal whatsoever now. For such an expensive adapter it really should be of better quality. PLEASE buy a different adapter and avoid wasting your money!

The product is good for it's purpose. Great quality no doubt and sound works but the twisting and turning it doesn't stand up to. I have to wiggle the adapter cable to actually show on the TV. If it's not bent correctly, it will cut in and out, no sound or just no signal. It's good for occasional use but it will break.

Works very well but ensure you're using the right graphics mode!

Both video and sound work very well but check your graphics card status first!

I have a mid-2010 15 inch MBP i7 with dual graphics: discrete graphics (NVIDIA Geoforce GT 330M) and the standard Integrated Intel graphics.
I was on battery when I wanted to try out the Moshi with a brand new Apple HDMI cable. Plugged in to a LG TV but it didn't seem to work. Looked at hardware and display system settings on MacOS X - both the display or the sound output did not list the HDMI TV. The little leaflet that came with Moshi didn't say anything else. I tried plugging in and out a few times but the same result - nothing. Then I noticed that my energy saver setting on system settings had "Automatic graphics switching" off and the graphics card status was "integrated only".

I switched it to the NVIDIA discrete card by plugging the laptop in and voila! it worked!
Normally you won't know which card is being used when. unless you use a tool like gfxCardStatus, but this may explain why some folk didn't get it working the first time.

The video and sound works great out of the box - and all you need to do is set the "sound" hardware options on system preferences: change "output" from "internal speakers" to whatever your TV / Monitor / HDMI device's name is. And that's all!

Hope this helps folks who couldn't get it working the first time!

Was working great and stopped after only 3 weeks. No signal to the television or anything. I bought it at the Apple store to boot. I figured they'd sell a safe product, but not this time.

When the adapter is new, it's a solid. But, I am currently on my second adapter that has failed. It's at a point where it stops transmitting 1080p resolutions. Right now with my current one I have to pinch the cord part of the adapter to get it to show the 1080p resolution.

    Does exactly as advertised

This adapter does exactly as advertised. It delivers HDMI video and audio from your Mac to TV and it does it quite nicely too! Now the caveat. You have to have a computer that was made mid 2010. If you read some of the other reviews, you will find how you can see if yours is golden. I have it running through my Denon AVR and works fantastic.

To set up: After you plug it in, you go to System Preferences. Go to Sound, output tab and select your source as it will recognize it. Then through System Preferences, go to video and make sure you have mirror checked marked. From there you should be good to go.

My only minor complaint is that the instructions will tell you how to set up audio but will not go into video.

Otherwise, this little gadget works like a champ.

You gotta be kidding me...bought my € 1.7k macbook pro last year...now i must realize that this "new innovative mini DisplayPort" does not even carry the audio signal? Why the **** are you indroducing it then when there is allready a working standard port for video AND audio (HDMI)

I see this this as a huge design error...and as an apple customer (got a macbook pro,mac mini and iPhone) I am reaaaally dissapointed...proprietary: OK but not at the cost of funcionality

an upgrade to the new mini-dp port should be cost free from my point of few...

Everything works fine with my 2010 model MBP.

Just follow instructions that come in packaging or from Moshi website, pretty straight forward.

What a piece of Junk! I was so excited about this purchase, finally being able to hook up my laptop to my tv, but as other reviewers have noted, it works fine for the first couple of months and began to cut in and out. It doesn't work at all now. I feel rather ripped off and now have to go buy another adapter. If I could give this product negative stars, I would. Save your money!

The product worked well but 12 months of occasional use vs 34 $ value is not what I call a good ratio. I used it to connect MBP 13" to Sony TV.
