Broke after less than a year

We've used this lightly over the past year and it broke. The cable is very rigid, so the slightest movement feels like it's breaking something. Sure enough, less than a year in and the connection is extremely spotty.

There aren't a lot of options, but I would recommend a different product.

Will break after a few uses

The product is good for it's purpose. Great quality no doubt and sound works but the twisting and turning it doesn't stand up to. I have to wiggle the adapter cable to actually show on the TV. If it's not bent correctly, it will cut in and out, no sound or just no signal. It's good for occasional use but it will break.

When the adapter is new, it's a solid. But, I am currently on my second adapter that has failed. It's at a point where it stops transmitting 1080p resolutions. Right now with my current one I have to pinch the cord part of the adapter to get it to show the 1080p resolution.

    Great!...when it actually works

I had read several reviews that talked of how unreliable this adapter can be and they were all absolutely true. I have had this adapter for less than two weeks, attached to a brand new computer, and it has already begun to be very sensitive. Simply touching the HDMI cable will cause my external monitor to go blank and I have to play with the adjustment until its just right all over again. It's great, when it actually works....

Works great until it stops working

I have a 15" mid-2010 MBP. This adapter worked great for combined audio/HDMI support for just longer than a year. Then It became finicky for a while where I had to place a heavy object on the adapter where it connects to the HDMI cord so the visual would stop cutting in and out. Now I can no longer use the adapter without constant glitches in the screen. I'm very disappointed that I cannot find another adapter to support both HDMI and audio because I won't waste another $35 on this low quality product.

    Great, until it stopped working

Great product idea because it fills a void in available adapters that carry both audio and video with the new combined port. Unfortunately, it does not seem to be designed to last because even with light use, it stopped working after less less than a year.

Moshi let me down, hurting my consulting

As a director and medical science instructor, I depend on reliable equipment. There is no problem with my MacBook Pro, but the adapter for HDMI connection to the monitor/TV was lost after four months. Come on Apple, you need dependable partners in this fast pace world, Moshi, get it together!!!

The product worked fine until one day it just stopped- (read below for fix) the Mac would recognize it, but my external monitor wouldn't display any picture. I took very good care of the product. But I have figured out what happened- so when you take it in and out it starts to pull on the metal bit at the end (the male part that goes into your Mac). It will pull it out about 1mm and those little pins will slip and fall out of their casing, then when you try to put it in it will bend those pins.

How to fix-- get tweezers, a gadget screwdriver set, and a headlamp - basically try to carefully pull the male part of the adaptor out a bit and you'll see where the metal joins- gently pry that apart and slide that off (I twisted a small flat screwdriver sideways to open).

Gently pull the white plastic off (remember which way it goes!). Straighten the pins with the tweezers (gently, but they're not as fragile as you'd think). Very carefully put the plastic back on- make sure that all the pins are in their holes at the front of the plastic- if they're not- pull the plastic out 1-2mm, push the pins up with a larger flat screwdriver, and push the plastic back. Once you've got them all in their holes, put the metal back on and make sure it's tight. Now it should work if the pins aren't too destroyed.

Hope that helps! Kinda helped mine but one of the pins was just too destroyed and so it's only working intermittently.

Initially, I was completely satisfied. It works!! I thought.... Beautiful picture, perfectly acceptable audio!! I thought... But it was short lived, this baby quit on me after about 4 months of casual indoor use. I can still get it to work if I bend it just right but If I were you (or me), I wouldn't depend on this adapter working when it needs to.

Worked for a few months, has been slowly getting worse, and now it doesn't work. These things are no good. Don't spend too much money on them. Not sure if the manufacturers are making cheap pieces or if the design in general is not very sturdy. Don't waste too much money on one.

It works as advertised but this is probably the grainiest adapter I've ever seen. Movie on my iMac looks good and try to put it on the TV it looks like garbage no matter what settings I try to change on the tv. If you want it for simple things it works great. But using video with it turns it grainy.

    Good while it lasted

This is my first adapter. After about a year, it has finally decided to stop working. A simple check shows that the plastic casing inside the adapter had major cracks which most likely meant the adapter was cracked. So I suspect that if someone trips over the wire and/or yanks on it, that's what will crack the inside. There's no other way to crack the inside since the outside is made of strengthened aluminum. A simple design change could've made the adapter a bit stronger against tugs/pulls. I have to admit though, I never had the wire yanked on before. It's more like it gets bent or twisted a bit, which will probably fracture just the same.

This device doesn't work properly without buying an additional item that cost $100 on top of this device. With the other device this thing works great but it's not made very well and mine just came apart recently (got it about 8 months ago) and all I do is unplug it once in a while because I use the MDP to play Xbox.

It's too pricey for the low quality and life span that it has.

This adapter was working fine until about a month after I bought it. I think it was a combination of lack of care from such a fragile devise and poor making of the product from Moshi.. Make sure you take care of any apple product you have because it is expensive and will treat you right if you do the same.

You would think that the apple store itself would only provide quality products to its customers, however this was not the case with this item. After about 3 weeks, it stopped working properly. I have to wiggle it around for a few minutes before it works at all. If you are in need of this type of adapter, get a cheaper one that will probably last longer.
