I need an adapter for my MacBook Pro to connect to my home phone line for internet access. Will the Apple USB Ethernet Adapter accomplish this?

To accomplish this, you'll most likely need the "Apple USB Modem", which allows you to plug the phone line into the adapter and use a dialup connection to access the internet.
The Apple USB Ethernet Adapter is mainly used in corporate environments or other environments with Ethernet Jacks.- Answered by BC from Greenpoint

Will this work with VMWare Fusion? What do guest machines see? A USB device they don't understand, or an ethernet interface?
The purpose is to run a Linux virtual machine in VMWare Fusion as my home router within my iMac. I plan to use this product to connect to the cable modem and passed through to the virtual machine as the WAN interface in the router. What I don't know is whether guest OSes (specifically Linux) would recognise the device via vmware fusion as a usb unknown device, usb ethernet interface, or just a vmware ethernet interface.

Can I use to connect an external hard disk via USB to my network (using ethernet)?
I have an external hard-disk that i want to share via WI-FI with my Macbook. The hard-disk doesn't have an ethernet port, but it has a USB port. Could I use this adapter to connect my external hard-disk to my router (which only has ethernet ports)? Will my Macbook find it in the network? Thanks!

Can this be used for the Mac Mini Server, so that there is a separate outward IP & an Inward IP? I'd like to keep inside, out of site of the ISP.
The new Mac Mini with Snow Leopard Server is lacking the second Ethernet port found on traditional servers.
Although I have a D-Link DIR-655 Xtreme Wireless-N Gigabit Router connected to my DSL modem, I would like to ensure that my inside network remains isolated from the ISP.
I would then also need another router or switch for keeping my isolated inside network connected to the Mac Mini Server, correct?- Asked by RW from Citrus Heights

Will Apple's USB adaptor work with an iMac G5 and OS X 10.3.9? Built in Ethernet is VERY slow - I was hoping to get a boost from a USB Ethernet
Checking the compatibility of Apple's USB Ethernet adaptor with an iMac G5 running OS X 10.3.9 - and wondering what speed would be if it is compatible.

Will the apple USB ethernet work with a 10.6 iMac network on airport express using a Hp Laserjet MP6 connected to a Farallon ethermac iprint adapter?
Have a iMac 10.5 using ethernet and airport and a HP Laserjet MP6 connected to a farallon ethermac iprint adapter connected to the airport with a ethernet cable. By using this the HP LJ MP6 works fine and has full printer function.
Upgraded to snow Leopard and I can not find the HP LJ MP6 and it is because appletalk is not in 10.6.
If I connect the apple USB ethernet adapter to the ethernet cable on the farallon ethermac iPrint adapter and then connect it to the airport USB or the iMac USB port will the iMac 10.6 recognize the HP LJ MP6?- Asked by JT from Littleton
