Best Answer
First go to system preferences and click on mouse. With the options to choose how to use the different sides of the mouse, I made the right side of the mouse the secondary button.
After that setting, to right click you click on the top right hand side of the mouse and it becomes the right click.- Answered by Larry E

Apple Wired Mouse scrolls in one direction only
Using the wired mouse with Apple aluminum wired keyboard and iMac 2009, OS 10.6.6.
When I use the scrolling button on top of the mouse it works fine for scrolling DOWN, but not at all for scrolling UP. I has worked fine for a couple of years.- Asked by Edward G from Cambridge

Best AnswerIt's dirty and needs a good cleaning. I know because I just finished doing this due to the exact same problem. Things you'll need: rubbing alcohol pads, cloth napkin or something similar and a straight pin or similar small, rigid instrument. Roll the ball around on the alcohol pad for a bit to loosen up all the gunk. Turn it upside down and roll it around on the napkin. Look at it a lot to see if there are particulates you can pick off. After you've done these two steps over and over, it still might not work. That's when you jam the straight pin in between the plastic housing and the roller ball. Dig around in there and pull out even more gunk. Repeat the alcohol pad and napkin thing. Just keep doing these things until it works. It took me about 20 minutes of cussing and cringing, but it finally has 360 degrees of scrolling again.

My wife hates the wireless mouse as the connectivity drops out regularly and she wants a wired mouse.

How do you clean the scroll ball?
Is there any way to clean the ball when it gets gummed up?

Best AnswerJoe from Vegas's answer worked great ! Even better if you add the use of a an alcohol prep pad. Unplug the mouse from the computer, turn the mouse upside down and rub it on the alcohol prep pad and then lightly rub the scroll ball on the blank piece of printer paper. The alcohol loosens everything up and the paper acts like a giant blotter. The dirt and grime comes out, as long as it's not stuck in there too badly.

Does the mighty mouse come with a longer cord?
I know there is always the option to go wireless, but I do prefer a cord on my mouse. Its way to short though.

Best AnswerThere are USB extension cables available from a variety of retailers, look for a thin cable to give yourself the least resistance.
Additionally, Apple wired keyboards and many third party keyboards allow you to plug a mouse directly into them, which in many cases eliminates the need for a long mouse cord.- Answered by David K from San Jose
