Only Nike+ shoes have the compartment, but all shoes will work. It might be umcomfortabe having a pedometer in your shoe, though.

I've put the transmitter in my laces and it works fine. I'm sure that Nike won't be happy with me saying that though. ;-)

Does nano 6th generation need a receiver and/or a sensor?
I have a nano 6th and bought the nike+ipod kit. For the first couple times I ran with the receiver and the sensor but I accidentally found the nike+ system works just as fine without them; it still records all my runs with all the data. I am just confused if I hav been using it correctly because it does not seem right.

You don't need a receiver and/ or a sensor to use the Nano 6th generation to track your runs.
However, on its own I found it to be pretty inaccurate. Even after calibrating the device it was still getting the distance wrong by about 20/30%.
With the sports kit added the Nano becomes much more useable for running. I calibrated once and am now able to track my runs with more accuracy.- Answered by Nick E

No, you can buy a Lacid pouch if you want to use this with other shoes ( it can be bought from Nike or on eBay ). Nike+ shoes just have the sensor holder built in.

I think the page says that the iPhone 3GS and later has the receive technology (some form of bluetooth?) built-in. Therefore you do not need this product, you just need the sensor, which can be bought separately.
Therefore, you do not need an adapter at all.
I am not 100% sure about this so I plan on confirming at an Apple store, but I think this web page says in no uncertain terms that you do not need the adapter if you have a modern iPhone.- Answered by Jonathan P

If you have one of the devices above then you go to

Scroll down
Tap Nike + iPod
then Active it
if you dont have any of them then you need to but the Kit at this adress but apple wont let me put dots so you need to replace the word DOT with a .

Nope. The "iDevice" of choice must be used in order to track your workouts. The sensor offers no functionality without starting and stopping the workout using your iPhone, iPod, Nano, etc. Sorry.

If I don't want to buy the Nike+compatible shoes; Can I put the counter in a pocket or is it a shoes-reliant thing?

Best Answer
It will not work correctly in a pocket but there are other options if you do not use Nike+ shoes. I have seen and used velcro pouches that the sensor fits into, these work great and are only a few bucks. You can do a Google search, check ebay or various sports/running stores.

What is the app on Itunes that is for the sensor? I have the sensor but no app. What should I do?
- Asked by Breeanne C from Dayton

Best Answer
The app is already in your iPod (touch i assume). In the settings page, scroll down to the application settings and you will see the "Nike + iPod" icon. In it's settings, all you have to do is turn it on and calibrate it. From then on, it will appear on your home screen.
If you have and iPod nano, it's under the extras menu. You also have to turn it on, but it will only show up when the receiver's connected.- Answered by William D from Woodstock
