does it fit the new 2012 macbook pro
- Asked by Rodolfo G from Hightstown

Best AnswerThis isn't compatible with the new 2012 MacBook with retina display. They don't currently have one made for it yet. This case might fit the computer, however, it won't allow it to breathe properly and therefore it could over heat. Speck should be coming out with a new case for the 2012 MacBook within the next month or so.

What are the measurements of this case so that I know it will fit my older Macbook
My Macbook is a few years old. What are the exact height and width? If the cases won't fit can I buy older style versions on the apple store?

Best AnswerI have a clear one for a 2006 MacBookPro, and a blue one for a 2007 MBP. They don't fit my new 2012 MBP, so it is unlikely the new Speck cover will fit your old MBP. I couldn't replace my clear one when it broke, because Speck didn't have any to fit it any more. It would have more to do with whether the shape of the MBP was the same. Apple has made each model a little skinnier and sleeker, which makes moving a cover from one model to the next a moot point. And making covers for old models seems not in vogue.

Is it transparent enough to scan a barcode through?
I teach at a public school, and the students are receiving individual macbook pro's this year! I would like to raffle off some covers, but I need to be able to scan their barcodes as they check them in and out at holidays for accountability.
Thanks!- Asked by Leslie M from Raleigh

Does the case (in blue) show scratches and fingerprint smudges, on the case, not on the computer?
Again, just for clarity's sake: I'm not talking about pre-existing scratches and fingerprint smudges, I want to know about the case itself.

Best AnswerThe blue case gets dirty hardly at all, and when it does, you can take it off and wash it. My blue one has been beaten around on a truck since 2007, and if it has any scratches, I haven't noticed them, whereas the first day on the truck before the cover, the lid got a nice arc scratch all across it. I'm happy to have the Speck get the scratches, instead!

does it fit the new 13" macbook retina?

Does it scratch easily? If so, would the satin shell be better?
- Asked by Deborah R from Owego
- 31/05/2012
- Flag as inappropriate
Best AnswerMine has not. I have the transparent case. I think it really depends on how you use it. I don't believe the satin shell would be better because from what I have heard that type of finish shows scratches more than the see thru case. Anyway having scratches on the case is far better than scratches on your 2000 dollar computer!

will this case fit an aluminum unibody macbook?
it's not a macbook pro, it's a macbook. but they look the same and are the same shape..
- Asked by Suzanne B from Toronto

Best AnswerYes it does, and it still maintains the low profile of the MacBook Pro. I have had this case for almost two years, and I absolutely love it! Comparing my MacBook Pro to a friend's who has not used a protective case, mine still is pristine and like brand new while hers has several scratches and dents in the unibody.
