What is the bottom of the pack made out of?
This is a major concern for me. The pack seems awesome itself, but this feature ultimately decides weather I purchase the pack or not. I keep on wearing out the bottom of backpacks, which is a shame because usually the rest of the pack is as good as new.

Does it have a compartment for an iPad?
I have an iPad 2 and the main thing for me is finding a backpack to hold my MBP and iPad. I really would like to get this but not knowing if I can carry my iPad safely in it is holding me back.

AnswerThere is ample space in the main compartment for both an iPad and a laptop. Furthermore, there is a zipped compartment that fits an iPad mini perfectly.

I recently purchased this bag to protect my 2011 15" Macbook Pro. Since purchase, the bag has endured air travel, taxis, and the usual bump and grind of day to day use. I can say that the computer has been perfectly protected inside, as well as my iPad and other gear. Although the retina Mac Book is slightly thinner than the one I am using, I cannot see any less protection offered by this bag. You would certainly not regret the purchase of this product. Forget using an additional cover.

Does it stand up on its own or fall over on its face when full?
With all other backpacks I've used, once you fill it with stuff (in particular the front pocket), when you put it on the ground or other flat surface, it leans over or falls over onto the face of the pack, rather than standing up straight like the pictures show? I'm concerned that the handle on the bottom would make this problem worse.

AnswerIt definitely won't stand on it's own, you will have to lean it against something or have it on a slant.

Under heavy rain, will this backpack protect all the electronics inside?
I would be using it for college in England for transporting my 15" Macbook Pro and cables/accessories, iPhone, iPod, etc...
If it rains A LOT will the bag keep its contents dry? I would hate to spoil thousands of dollars of laptop!- Asked by Tom B

Best AnswerGot the backpack not long ago, but it went through about 5 minutes of a downpour without wetness inside. The water beads well on the surface and can be flicked off after easily.

Is there padding on the bottom of the bag?
Many backpacks offer a padded compartment that provides padding between a person's back and laptop, and between the laptop and books in the bag. Is there padding on the bottom of the bag equal to or greater than the other padding? When I set a backpack down, I want to have some assurance the end of the laptop isn't slamming into something.

Answer
Definitely. It has enough space for textbooks, your computer, and other stuff. I've used it through a semester of college and it holds up pretty well.
