is an ipad mini and ipad 3rd generation the same device?!

AnswerThe iPad 4th Generation (Unless you can get an iPad 3rd Generation from another supplier) has got a new Apple A6X Chip which is 2x the processing power, 2x the Graphics power and a new Image Signal Processor, improved Wi-Fi to 8.0.11a/b/c&n and new LTE networks added if you want the Cellular version and is a 9.7 inch Retina Display Screen.
The iPad mini has a Apple A5 Chip, Dual-core processor, so will have the same aspects of the iPad 2 but in a smaller version of a 7.9" screen, redesigned by Apple. The screen on the iPad mini isn't a Retina Display though.
It's what you're mainly going to be using your iPad for. If its for heavy graphics, designing, creating and Keynotes the iPad 4th Generation is your best option.
If its just for general browsing on the internet, or just games, little bit of work on Pages, Numbers (not Keynote) then the iPad mini is good for on the go as it is thin and light for you to take with you anywhere.- Answered by Josh R

High School student: MacBook Air or iPad 3?
Heeeey, I've used my iPad 1 for a while now for school (it's getting VERY slow) so i think it's time to change. I will need something that can be used as a work machine as i go to the library in the city after school before going home. I've found that my ipad has been a bit clumsy to write essays do powerpoints etc, however this may be because it's very old in apple terms hahaha. This doesn't need to be my primary machine as i have an imac at home, however i get most of my work done in the library (i cant concentrate on my work at home) i also like to get work done whenever i'm travelling for that matter. i do use the ipad as a personal device a lot and i can see myself using the 3g capabilities heaps! (no 4g in australia) I have enjoyed the long battery life of the ipad and the very portable feel about it. Our school also has a tablet program (they give you androids, i replaced those no-goes with my ipad) so i've used it for that as well (textbooks etc), i've seen people in my school using airs though. Advice appreciated :)

Best AnswerWell, they both serve two entirely different purposes. I'm assuming you don't need a call function?!
If this is the case then obviously the iPad mini is a much better option all round....larger screen etc. And it will save you a few hundred pounds.
If money isn't necessarily an issue then I would personally recommend the New iPad, as it has an even larger display with retina, which looks spectacular for gaming and viewing photos. It comes with a higher spec processor which will allow you to multitask fluidly with ease, also helps if you're into gaming.
But again it depends on your needs.
iPhone 5's are fantastic, I have one and I would not be without, however, if you don't need a telephone then it rather defeats the purpose in my opinion.
Hope this helps :)- Answered by Daniel W

AnswerIt all depends upon what you are wanting to use the iPad for and your budget.
If you are a heavy gamer/creative/video maker/photographer then ideally the 4th generation iPad would be suitable for you, with its stunning 9.7" Retina Display with the all new A6X Chip - 2x performance, 2x graphics and a new Image Signal processor, faster and improved Wi-Fi & Cellular its a true powerhouse compared to its predecessor of the 3rd generation.
If you are just a casual internet browser and don't mind the pixels being visible the iPad 2 would suit with its A5 Dual Core Chip, 9.7" Screen, but for the extra £70 the Retina Display is just awesome.
The decision is yours, I hope this helps though.- Answered by Josh R

What's the difference between iPad 4th generation and the iPad mini?
Other than the size does the iPad mini have all the same features internally?

Best AnswerThe iPad 4th gen. has a faster processor, higher resolution screen (2048x1536), and a physically larger screen. The iPad mini is smaller and therefore significantly more portable. Many reviews and my personal experience bear this out.

AnswerYou can transfer your DOC, PDF, PPT, XLS, and a few other files over to your iPad and view them, however you will need to get specific iOS productivity apps to be able to edit those documents. iWork is a very useful app and it can be set to export to the Microsoft formats. Program wise, you will need to start from scratch, as the iPad uses iOS and not Windows operating system.
