I would like to buy either Ipad3 or macbook air. I cannot seem to decide and maybe you can help me. This needs to be family friendly.
I have 2 kids 12 & 16 who will prob want to download music and movies. I have a husband who travels a lot so I would like to be able to chat to him via email or skype. Although I have not used a mac before I have used the ipad and found it easy to navigate, will this be the case with the mac book air. Please advise which you think i should buy.

The Macbook Air is even easier to navigate than the iPad. I own both and found that I prefer the macbook air for a few reasons.
1. The iPad can only do ONE THING AT A TIME. Yes, it has multitasking, but you only have one screen/program. The macbook air is a full computer. It can run multiple programs in multiple windows and you can see those windows at the same time.
2. The ease of use of the iPad has essentially been ported over to MacBooks with the giant trackpad and gestures in Lion. You'll find yourself doing what you need to faster than you've ever done on windows or the iPad.
3. The highest configuration iPad can only hold 64GB of data. Your kids will download music and movies and you'll find that gone quickly. Most Airs come with 128GB standard, but can be upgraded to 512GB if needed. You can also get an external HD, USB 3.0 to add even more storage. I keep my entire music library on an external 32GB USB Drive and it works great.
4. The only drawback on the Air over the iPad is the price, which is often doubled. However, the benefits of the Air are still more than double the iPad...- Answered by Michael X from Farmington

yes- in a short answer.. i use my ipad mini at work daily.. its in an otter box all the time in case i dropped it-but to this day-it looks like it did when i took it out of the box... just dont get it wet...hope this helps..

I will getting an ipad from work with a work itunes account to download apps. Can I also use it with my personal itunes account to have access to the apps I downloaded on another ipad?

Yes you can read books, get the free ibooks app thru the apps store and then go shopping in the ibooks store - you can get books via other apps too. You can resize the font and change the brightness etc.

Can i pull video from camcorders directly onto iPad for editing with pinnacle studio
Would like to transfer camcorder footage (Digital 8, Mini Dv, VHS -C etc ) to iPad. Can this be done? Are there special adapters required and what are they? I know a dazzle adapter is required for PC. Also Pinnacle Studio have just released a movie editing app for iPad - Is this any good? I know Final Cut Pro is the standard for iMac & Macbook Pro, just wondering about the iPad. Any comments/experiences welcome - Thank you.

Which is better to do Garageband Ipad mini/Ipad2/3? I have an ipod, Macbook Pro etc.I write a lot of music. I would like it to carry my lyrics&chords
My ipod is nice to carry around my lyrics with my chords but it is too small. I thought the Ipad mini or the Ipad 2 would be better so I could zoom in on the text and read it easier making it easier to carry all my (songs) lead sheets with me is this true?

Yes, there's an excellent little app available called "Files Pro" which does this so well. Automatically hooks up to your computer over WiFi or by USB transfer via iTunes.

I have my ereader apps, music, etc. on my iPad. I want to get the mini. It's easier to travel with, but I need to transfer the book apps and books, etc. to the mini - that would be its purpose.

i m getting an ipad mini for my children because they are having trouble concentrating on the mini screen of ipod touch. Playing on smaller screen is causing strain in their eyes. So, for their eyes sake, i m getting ipad mini. Along comes great camera and Siri ofcourse.
