Will this internal drive work with Mac Pro, 2.8 GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon (2008)?
Wish to use this as an additional Mcintosh HD for program apps. The 300 Gb drive that came with my Mac Pro is nearly full.

Yes, virtually all SATA 3.5" drives will work. I have 2x1TB & 2x 1.5TB in my Mac Pro 3,1. I can't see any reason why it won't except for it being faulty.
Just shut down your Mac Pro, take the side cover off, slide out the drive carrier and assemble the drive onto the carrier using the screws provided, then slide the whole assemble back into your Mac Pro. Replace the side cover, power up and use Disk Utility to format the drive.
Personally I'd use the larger drive to be your startup drive.
