G-Technology 500GB G-DRIVE mobile Portable Hard Drive
Product No Longer Available
What is the difference in this and the time capsule?
Are they both just essentially external hard-drives? I know that the time capsule is wireless and the G-technology is not, but is there any other difference?

Time Capsule is an Airport Extreme plus a hard drive. The latter can be used for backup of your Mac(s) via Time Machine, and/or as centralized (networked) file storage space. Time Capsule also has a USB port to which a USB printer can be connected, in which case that printer will be shared over the network. The USB port can also be used to connect additional external hard drive storage capacity, which, like the internal hard drive, can be used as additional backup space and/or networked file storage. (Obviously, any external disk attached would need to support USB).
The G-Drive is "only" an external hard drive. It can be directly connected to a Mac (or PC), or connected to a Time Capsule to provide additional storage capacity.- Answered by Kenneth D from Ottawa
