Plantronics M100 Bluetooth Headset
Product No Longer Available
Can be used with Siri? .
Other BT headsets I have have to be finagled or just plain don't activate the system

I purchased this to use with a new iPhone 4S in the car, to hear texts from Siri and reply to them without being distracted while driving. Unfortunately, despite the stellar reviews, I'm quite disappointed with it.
Digital audio is efficient and uses less power than analogue because it doesn't transmit anything when there is no sound. It begins to detect your voice as soon as you begin to speak and if you stop talking for a second, waits for the next sound before transmitting again. What this means is that when I try to ask Siri a question, or give a command, only part of it is getting through because it's not detecting quickly enough when I begin to speak.
I tried 'Open App Store' and Siri only registered the word 'App' the first time and on another attempt, hears only 'Store'. I've had better luck in the car with only the phone's internal microphones and me shouting in it's direction. Even with the car's fans running for the climate control and traffic/road noise outside the car, the iPhone in a dash mount is more effective than the Plantronics M100 is at home on the couch, early morning when it's dead quiet. Spending a little more time researching this and if I don't find a resolution it's being returned.
Would be nice if I could somehow change a setting and sacrifice talk time to have it listening longer and actually working with Siri.- Answered by Warren B from Toronto
