I need an adapter for my MacBook Pro to connect to my home phone line for internet access. Will the Apple USB Ethernet Adapter accomplish this?

To accomplish this, you'll most likely need the "Apple USB Modem", which allows you to plug the phone line into the adapter and use a dialup connection to access the internet.
The Apple USB Ethernet Adapter is mainly used in corporate environments or other environments with Ethernet Jacks.- Answered by BC from Greenpoint

No, it won't.
Altough they look roughly the same, Ethernet and phone lines use different plugs. And aren't even electrically or logically compatible.
You would need at least a (dial-up or DSL) modem.- Answered by RL from Salem
