I have a ipod dock that came with my 3rd Gen iPod (20GB) circa 2003, is it compatible with my iPhone 3G?

PS: unfortunately remote works only for volume up &down, next and previous song.
I miss also feature going thrue diff. sections (Podcast to Music, Music to Videos...)- Answered by DS from NEW YORK
