Yes, it is possible to use the same pre-paid phone number you have now but because an iPhone 5 uses the new nano-sim card (which is much smaller than a micro-sim card or a standard sim card) you will need to contact your mobile carrier.
For example, if you are with Telstra, you will need to go into a Telstra store and ask to get your pre-paid phone number transferred to a nano-sim. They will do this for free (usually), If there are no Telstra stores near you, you could always contact Telstra by phone or email. They will give you more information from there.
