Can I upload photos from mycompact flash card

  Unfortunately No, as a CF card requires an external power source to be read but not so the SD cards. Hence, the Apple Camera Card attachment kit is for USB and SD (for iPads version3 and SD only version4)
  Logically it follows that if one can supply a power source then it can happen.
  If you refer to aperture expert (you will have to Google this as web links are not allowed) you should find the article and a possible resolution pertaining to the problem. But I must stress I have not tried this and am advising only to the reading of the article.
