The cable I had with my iPhone I got the iPhone 5 4 months ago and this cable that I received with my phone doesn't work anymore. The cable I had with my iPhone 4, I had for 2 years with no problems at all. So I find it very strange that the lighting cord can stop working so easily. Even the cord for my first generation iPod touch which is 6 years old and it still works. Now I have to go buy another cord and spend more money to keep using my phone. I hope the issue gets fixed soon because I don't want to keep buying new lighting cords every 4 months.

I've gone through three different lightning cords in the four months I've had my iPhone 5. All three have inexplicably stopped working. Each has gotten a short in the cord where it meets the lightning end though I've been careful to leave them straight, treat them gently (especially since the first failed). With my current cord, I have to hold the lightning end of the cord in a certain direction to get it to work.

On top of that, when it happens to short out, it interferes with the electric current, disabling linked ports. i.e. when it shorts out in any of my computers' USB ports, the other ports become inactive as well (disabling my external hard drive and USB mouse); when it is plugged in a charger with multiple outputs, the other outputs become inactive as well.

After buying several chargers, three iPods, three iPhones, and an iPad, I had amassed ten of the old 30-pin connectors. All ten work just as well as they did when I brought them home; I took it for granted that I never had an issue with any of them.

Not up to usual Apple quality standards. Breaks down with normal use.

Unfortunately I cannot foresee a change to this issue, as its all about the %'s of faults with Apple. It would however be useful if they could at least reduce the price of the cables to reflect the quality of the product.

One lightning cable working at this moment between 3 iPhones, with batteries the way the are, imagine the tension and frantic searching through eachothers rooms for that one magical working cable. All of us are meticulous ocd people and therefore super carefull with our stuff, and still, lightning cables break down on us constantly. On my way to buy my third Apple Lightning cable and at this point I want an official apology from Apple for this complete piece of trash that they have made. Flowers and chocolate wrapped in a new cable will do too, you know where I live..
