Overview
This VESA Mount Adaptor Kit allows your 24-inch or 27-inch iMac computer, or 24-inch LED Cinema Display to be used with a variety of alternative mounting solutions, such as wall mounts and zero-footprint articulating arms, based on the VESA flat-panel mounting interface (FPMI).
With a tool in this kit, you can remove the iMac or display stand and attach the VESA Mount Adaptor. Then connect any VESA-compliant mounting solution with a 100 mm x 100 mm attachment.
With the VESA Mount Adaptor attached, the 24-inch or 27-inch iMac, and 24-inch LED Cinema Display complies with the VESA MIS-D, 100, C version specification.
Compatibility
Works with the following models:
- 24-inch iMac (aluminium and glass)
- 27-inch iMac
- 24-inch LED Cinema Display
Note: Wall mount or articulating arm not included.

Excellent adapter for a VESA mount

I purchased this mount for my 24 inch aluminum/glass iMac and couldn't be happier with it. Prior to purchasing it, I read reviews (on this site and others) from many people who say it's difficult and time consuming to attach to the iMac. Now, by no means do I consider myself a handyman; but I can honestly say it took me all of 10 minutes to remove the old base and attach the VESA mount to the back of the iMac. The kit comes with everything you need, but I will admit I borrowed a torx tool and a hex screwdriver from a neighbor that made removing the screws from the base a little easier. But even without those tools, the job would not have taken more than 15 minutes. The mount is very sturdy and well made. It also matches the aluminum on the iMac beautifully. …More

As if the new imac didn't look good enough sitting on a desk, I think it would look much better hanging on the wall in discise as a nice TV. Its not a very complicated thing, the iMac simple looks better with this product in use. I would strongly recommend that any 08' iMac owner buy this product immediately. The screws do not even align when used with the 27" iMac

I tried putting it on the new 27" iMac. The flange went on without any problem. The hole aligned with the pin, and all 8 screws were fastened easily. However, installation of the mount adapter plate was a different story... When it sits on top of the flange, the holes from the sides of the mount plate do not even align with the threaded holes of the flange. It was at least 2 mm off-centre. I had to remove the protective plastic strips at the edge of the mount adapter plate, only then the bolt can be threaded into the flange. Even so, the bolts were so tight that, on one side, I could only drive the bolt half-away in before I strip the hex pattern on top of the bolt. …More

Frankly this piece of kit was a joy to work with. I had read both previous reviews and had some trepidation about wall mounting my new, and very first, iMac. I have always been slightly in awe of the attention to detail that are associated with Apple products but this very simple adaptor blew my mind.
Its beautifully enginnered, the designers have worked closely with the people doing the documentation and its been tested. I know because for the last 22 years I have worked with products where the documentation and quality aspects are an afterthought.
The instructions are laid out explicitly, follow them and you'll have your new iMac on the wall as quickly as I did. Seven minutes from opening the package to having my 27 inch iMac mounted. …MoreWas this useful?

Fitting this to my 24" iMac did require a lot of patience and working out. It seems to be a necessary evil to get it to fit and bear the weight of the machine. Once you have it fitted it holds really well.
Need to extract the pull the mount point out further than you think it can go.

Good idea - bad implementation

Getting the stand off requires wasting a creditcard.
Getting the monitor-mount to rise enough to fit caused the attachment-screw to break.
Finally got it to fit after an hour, but it should not be this demanding to fit a simple VESA adapter.

This adapter is used to give a articulating wall mounted arm something to attach to, not to be confused with a flush wall mount. Hope this helps.

the leg that holds up the iMac currently is removed... via 2 alan screws in the hinge, the Vesa Adapter fits around That hinge and gets screwed in using slightly longer screws, immobilizing it safely, and providing a plane that is VESA compatible for all those crazy Vesa Gadgets you find out there in the rest of the world.
