Product Information

  • The magic is in the Multi-Touch.

The new Magic Mouse redefines what a mouse should do. In addition to its smooth, seamless top-shell design that acts as one button or two, Magic Mouse features a Multi-Touch surface with gesture support. Scroll vertically, horizontally, and diagonally — a full 360 degrees — simply by touching anywhere on the top surface. With a greater surface area for scrolling, you can get around a long timeline in iMovie, through a lengthy web page in Safari, or around a set of images in iPhoto more efficiently. You can also swipe through pages in Safari or photos in iPhoto with two fingers. It’s the most advanced Apple mouse ever made.

One or two. Left or right.

The seamless, one-button design of Magic Mouse makes it simple to use right out of the box. But if you want the functionality of a two-button mouse, that’s easy, too. Just change the configuration in System Preferences. And the ambidextrous construction means Magic Mouse is great for lefties or righties.

    Laser tracking engine.

Magic Mouse features a laser tracking engine that’s far more sensitive and responsive on more surfaces than traditional optical technology. That means it can track with precision on nearly every surface with no mousepad required.

    Bluetooth technology.

Magic Mouse works wirelessly with your Bluetooth-enabled Mac. When you combine it with the Apple Wireless Keyboard, the result is an untethered and uncluttered workspace. Once you pair Magic Mouse with your Mac, you can enjoy a secure and reliable connection from up to 33 feet away.

Its unreal how elegant it looks on my desk, but what is trully remarkable, is just how intuitive it really is. The MT serface is so sensitive, it reacts so fluidly, you would almost think it is a true extension of you.

For me, there is NO comfortable way to hold this mouse and I have tried many different ways. It is not ergonomic in the slightest. The movement of the pointer on the screen is far from acceptable when using it.

The one thing I do like about it is the gesture support; very intuitive and useful, but you might as well get the trackpad which is more accurate, comfortable and (at the moment) features more gestures.

If you don't like the trackpad then I would suggest any other standard mouse. If you buy this there's a fair chance your fingers will be aching from the constant attempts to hold this mouse comfortably.

Steer clear and get the magic trackpad instead!

I can't believe I paid so much money for this and now I have to go back to using my old, cheap Logitech mouse, which has stood me well for over four years now. As a grad student, I am constantly writing papers, and as a geek I play Minecraft in my (very little) free time. This brand new mouse is constantly disconnecting itself from my brand new Mac for no apparent reason! What is the point of a mouse that you can't use fifty percent of the time?? I liked the scroll function at first, until I found that, like other reviews said, you have to be super careful because it's so sensitive sometimes that it will flip you back and forth horizontally between pages. I can't even use this mouse to play Minecraft because you can't leave your hand sitting on the mouse or it will respond to the tiniest pressure and start going crazy, scrolling the screens around. And to make matters worse, when it's not being super-sensitive, it is just the opposite: sluggish, jerky, and non-responsive! I have to move the whole mouse and my hand a solid eight inches to get the pointer to move across the screen. I have tried for three months now with this mouse and I'm finally giving up and throwing it out. What a waste of money.

I use most of the scrolling gestures on the back of the mouse every day. These make it the most innovative mouse design you'll ever find. I also use the right and left click.

    Highly recommended.

I wasn't even sure I'd use gestures when I ordered it, but I find myself just doing them now. It brings my Mac a bit closer in functionality to my iPad. I wasn't sure I would use my new Mac as much as my iPad. I thought I'd just use it for photo/video editing and as a media server. I find I enjoy using it much more then the pc it replaced. The Magic Mouse is a big part of that. It just makes using my Mac easy.

There was an itty bitty learning curve to using this mouse, for me at least. But it was fast. I was a bit frustrated when first trying to use it, but I immediately started getting it. Then it became completely natural.
