Overview

Every Mac with a Mini DisplayPort allows you to connect an external display or projector using an adapter. You can use an external display as your main workspace or to extend your desktop, or you can work in mirrored mode with a projector so you can view what your audience sees.

Use the Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter to connect your Mac to a standard analog monitor, projector, or LCD that uses a VGA connector or cable. Review the documentation or check with the manufacturer of your monitor to make sure you're choosing the right adapter.

Compatible only with Mac computers with Mini DisplayPort.

    Doesn't work with Samsung TV

I'm very disappointed with this. I bought a new MacBook last week and got the VGA adapter so I could use it with my TV as I did my old PowerBook G4 (via the Mini-DVI to VGA adapter). The new adapter worked fine when I connected it to an overhead projector, but it doesn't seem to send a readable signal to my Samsung LN40A650 television.

I tried booting in to Windows via Boot Camp and got the same result.

I guess I'll have to try the DVI adapter with a converter from DVI to HDMI to use this with my TV. A Mini DisplayPort to HDMI (or even regular DisplayPort, which can be directly converted without using audio) would be ideal, but there doesn't seem to be any sign of that.

    Disappointing

I can not get this thing to output to my Samsung LN-4042H 40 inch LCD. The old miniDVI to VGA worked no problem with my old MacBook. I have checked and it is not a TV problem, so certainly something hardware or driver related. Also $29.99 for a video dongle seems steep to me. More

    Works perfectly

Output to my 22" Viewsonic is clear and crisp and setup with no effort. Seems to be of the same quality as the mini DVI to VGA adapter which I used everyday for a year with out incident on my old macbook. Should be priced in the 14.99 - 19.99 range. More

    Saved My Business School Presentation

This adapter saved my bacon by allowing me to connect my new 13" Macbook Pro to the classroom's projector VGA plug and present my term paper! My laptop doesn't have the VGA connection like the Windows PCs that most of the students were using. I didn't have to reboot my mac to activate the mini displayport; it automatically worked when i made the connection. Warning: There were two students in my class with older mac laptops and this Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter wouldn't fit in their macs. I bought my 13" macbook pro (MB990LL/A) in August so it's important to get the right adapter for your mac. If unsure, I recommend taking your mac into an Apple store or other retailer to get the right adapter. More

This item works just like the description says it works. Every time I connect an external monitor or projector, it works. I've never lost a connection or anything. More

    Absolutely Fantastic

Bought this product when purchasing a new iMac for the study in my house. I had also bought a new LG TV to go with it, i decided it might be pretty nice to wall mount the TV above the mac, and using it as an extended desktop when I need to focus on work and the TV shouldn't be on.

Constant praise should be given to apple for making such a seamless product, I switched the TV onto the VGA input, and connected the minidisplay port to the mac. Instantly I had an extended desktop.

It even allows me to tell the mac where the second monitor is, above it. This seems to be a problem for many Windows users that you cannot have an extended desktop above the original and dominant screen.

Overall, just five stars for absolute satisfaction, and just thank you Apple! For making such a superb product, (although the wire is a touch short).
