  • Mac with AirPort or AirPort Extreme wireless capability
  • PC with 802.11a/b/g/n
For shared printing:
  • USB printer
  • Macintosh computer with Mac OS X v10.2.7 or later
  • PC with Windows XP (SP2) or Windows Vista; Bonjour for Windows included on AirPort Express CD
For iTunes music streaming:
  • Stereo or powered speakers

  1. The AirPort Express Base Station is based on an IEEE 802.11n draft specification and is compatible with IEEE 802.11a, IEEE 802.11b, and IEEE 802.11g.
  2. Based on a comparison with Apple's 802.11g products. Comparison assumes AirPort Express network with 802.11n-enabled computer. Speed and range will be less if an 802.11a/b/g product joins the network. Accessing the wireless network requires an AirPort- or AirPort Extreme-enabled computer or other Wi-Fi Certified 802.11a/b/g-enabled computer. Actual performance will vary based on range, connection rate, site conditions, size of network, and other factors. Range will vary with site conditions.
  3. Wireless Internet access requires a wireless-enabled computer, a base station or other access point, and Internet access (fees may apply). Some ISPs are not currently compatible with AirPort Express.

    WOW! i just bought my airport express hotness at the apple store in cincinnati (best apple store in the world! - JD in the back is the MAN!). i hooked it up to my existing airport extreme network, and it was set up and connected in about 37 seconds. this thing rocks! i have my samsung laser printer hooked up to and my bose computer speakers connected in my room, and this thing works like a charm! go get one - you can use it as a charger for your iPod or iPhone too! the fact that they didn't raise the price makes it an even better deal. this thing is genius... …More

    Best Part of my Stereo System

    I've had my Airport Express for many years. It has always worked perfectly as the best component of my home audio system. Without my Airport Express, I would still be flipping CDs in and out of a CD player and angry with my kids with their stacks of CDs laying around. Being a family of musicians, we are constantly streaming music from various devices, such as our iPhones, iPod Touches, laptops or one of the iMacs.     Amazing Wireless - Not compatible iPad printing without new printer

    This is a great product and I would be ecstatic about it except for the fact that we cannot print from our iPads or iPhones without a new printer. Our old wireless rotor blew up and we jumped at the idea of wireless printing from all our Apple devices that we own (now 6 total). There needs to be a fix for this issue. No need for us to go buy another printer for $100+ when we just bought a $100 wireless rotor. There has to be a way to make this work. PLEASE HELP! 5 stars if this works some how! …More

  • For streaming music to my home stereo, how is this (AirPort Express) different to Apple TV .... from what I can tell it does the same thing?

    You need to be careful in comparing the two. If you want to stream to your stereo, AE and ATV might both work but might not depending on your setup. For example, if your stereo is not hooked up to your TV, the new ATV second generation will NOT work because all you have is an HDMI output connector. ATV first generation has RCA and digital audio out jacks and the AE has a mini analog/digital plug output jack. …More

    After studying a lot of answers to this similar question, I've found the answer, that is NO. iPhone and iPad can't directly send docs or jpg ... to print via AirPort express, but there is a way to do that, using AirPrint Activator 2 app which works completely well on my iMac.
