Less than 2 years old and I need to buy a new battery because the one that came with my Powerbook is 3/4 dead and only gets 45 minutes of battery time.
This is HORRIBLE.

Since when does an integral part of a $3,000-plus appliance become obsolete within a year under OPTIMAL use conditions???
I'm buying another one, but only because my computer is currently relegated to a space-saving desktop, and has lost all advantages associated with owning a laptop due to its shoddily designed battery.

Computer excelllent, but I agree with others for other battery products

I routinely get about 2.5 hours on this battery, even from new. While this seem to be normal, no amount of coaxing with the Energy Saver control panel will get even 3 hours, although you can get nearly that. This is based on brand new battery usage.
While I like Apple products, and do not heavily criticise the battery, I consider Apple responsible for fomenting a lot of disinformation regarding laptop batteries. Rate the battery based on normal use, not occasional usage in which 80% of the time measured is short term sleep events. Realtime continuous usage is the only guage the average purchaser wants to see.

Li-Ion Batteries have a finite life... 1000 charges. I have had my computer almost 4.5 years and replaced my battery once (battery recall). Neither of the batteries showed any signs of aging. Still get the same life as I did when I bought the thing. All rechargeable batteries have a limited lifespan and mine is outliving it. …More

The batteries I have replaced are practically worthless. Not to mention the power adapter that I have had to replace 3x. It deters me from ever buying another apple product. This is to bad because I like apple products, but I have found the support to be worthless …More
