Works fine. But don't forget the audio.

My "sunflower" iMac G4 connects beautifully to my wide-screen TV. The iMac will automatically recognize there is a "second display". You can then set the resolution for the iMac display and the output to TV. (tip: I keep the iMac display resolution low so that the video card has more power to mirror the screen to the TV)
What isn't explained anywhere, is that no audio is transmitted through this adapter. (in fact it is not the adapter's fault, but the Mac's vga port itself). So you also need to link the audio-out port of your Mac to the TV by using a cable with a mini-jack at one end and two RCA jacks on the other.

I work at a K-8 school and we use the Apple Video Adapter to connect our eMacs to the s-video port on Projectors and TV's. It works great! We don't have to make any changes in display settings. It just works. …More

Great for TV display

This is a really handy connector if you need to make presentations on something bigger than your computer screen but don't have access to an LCD projector. In both conference and classroom use, I'm not always sure what display options I'll have, so being able to connect to a TV is convenient. …More

Apple Video Adapter
Works as expected

To the person who says "picture quality is poor", are you using composite ("RCA") connector to a TV screen? You say VGA connection is better. With VGA, are you looking at a computer monitor? Typically, a TV screen showing a computer desktop or text will not have the picture quality of a computer monitor, no matter the connection, but S-video connection may be a bit better. Advertisers don't use 10 point font on TV except for those long, boring disclaimers for the side effects of a prescription drug because no one can read it. …More

Apple Video Adapter
Works but poor quality
Written by SB from Brighton

Adapter is truly plug and play but the quality of the picture is poor. I also have a vga display adapter and the picture is great but not with this s-video/rca adapter. I find the text is blurry and hard to read. Maybe I received a bad adapter? I have changed the resolution to the 3 offered for the ibook G3 lcd but no improvement to the tv picture. I am attempting to use this on a Samsung 40" LCD. The intent was to use the TV's picture in picture feature to watch tv and surf the net at the same time. I have hooked up a windows laptop using the s-video or rca video to this tv and got a good picture. So it is either a faulty adapter or it is the G3's video out limited capabilities. Any comments or assistance would be appreciated. …More

Easy to connect-works great!

This adapter was exactly what I needed to connect my ibook G4 to my plasma tv. You need an additional S-video cable or just a normal yellow video cable to connect the two. The picture was a bit fuzzy at first, but after I reset the resolution on my ibook it worked fine.
Keep in mind that this adapter doesn't transmit sound, so you'll need external speakers or a sound cable for it. …More45 of 52 people found this useful
