I purchased mine at my local Apple Store a week ago have have been enjoying them ever since. After a few hours of break-in they sound even better.

The leather ear cups are very comfortable, people that have medium-large ears might want to try them on to make sure your ears fit comfortably in the ear cups.

I own the B&W P5 headphones and can attest that the P7 beats them for sound and comfort. However, that is at the expense of portability due to the larger size of the P7 when compared to the P3 and P5. B&W supplies a very nice case in which to transport these beauties in.

The P7 works great with my iPhone 5 and iPad2. They don't need a separate headphone amplifier or DAC. But the are versatile as they scale up in sound when I put them to use with me desktop headphone amplifier and DAC (with an iMac as the sound source). I have not switched out the iPhone cable to the straight cable for theses sessions. A purist would, so it is nice that B&W supplies a second cable.

Over on Head-Fi (a headphone enthusiast site) there are a lot of comparisons to the Sennheiser Momentum and a few other portables. The comments and reviews there are positive.

The only con for these headphones are the cost. However, they are worth it if you enjoy beautifully made headphones that sound great.

Physical appearance: I know this is subjective. I'm a 27 year old guy. I feel like they are not exactly marketed towards my demographic but someone in their 40's. The quality is excellent though. The leather is high quality and they leave me feeling like they will last for several years.

Feel: Wearing them is really interesting. As I looked at them, I thought that there was no way that they could feel comfortable. Wow was I wrong. The ear cushions fit perfect. My ears don't touch inside of the ear cups and overall they feel light while wearing. I think because they are new they are still kind of squeezing my head a little.

Sounds: You seriously need to experience this for yourself with a lossless music file. I can't even touch my other headphones now. Some of the ones that I tried and felt that were inferior were as follows: PSB M4U 2, Bose QC 15, V Moda M100, and Denon 600. Also worth noting that the sound isolation is very good.

Price point: I feel that these sit right around where they belong.

Overall Impression: I think these things are great. I'm definitely a B&W fan now. Lol, never thought I'd say that. Try these things, you won't regret it.

  • Great, improves on the P5.

These really are a step up from the P5. They sound fantastic, every bit as good as B&W claim. Noticable improvement from the P5.

Very comfortable to wear, even for long periods. The cable has improved from that of the P5 as well. Overall I'm impressed with them.

All I auditioned probably 25 expensive headphones and settled on the P7s. I've lived with them for six months now and love them. All sounds across the audio spectrum seem well balanced, with no part of the spectrum dominating. Having worked in recording studios for years I know what good recorded music should sound like, and the P7s do a great job of delivering what was recorded--nothing more and nothing less.

I also find them very comfortable for long listening sessions. These phones replaced a pair of Sennheiser HD600s, which are very good phones but not as precise as the B&Ws. I considered the new and more expensive Sennheiser HD650s but the B&Ws were still better, and a better buy.

These phones will not block out a lot of external noise, so they are best for listening in moderately quiet environments (home, office). They will not do the trick on a plane. I use in-ear Shure phones (SE315) when flying, and find them dramatically superior to any of the noise-canceling phones.

If you want a pair of phones that will let you hear the music as the artist intended it to be heard, give these a long audition.

First off, the construction is A+ quality - beautiful leather, tasteful metallics, thick cable - gorgeous to look at and and very very comfortable to wear for long periods.

Sound wise? I have $3,000 B&W tower speakers in my main room system, well driven, and yet sitting with these P7s on with a small bighead amp driven from my iPhone line-out and lossless files, the sound is way above what I get from the room system. I almost bought the P5s a while back, but found they lacked something in the sound. I ended up getting the Sennheiser momentums and these have been great, but like many, my ears find them a bit too snug. I tried the P7s and ending up buying them because the sound was so much more involving to me than either the momentums, the P5s or my airplane trip Bose QC15s. It's a little hard to describe, but you can have large amounts of involving low end sound, and yet the higher notes just cut through perfectly, beautiful neutral tone and with a sound stage that I've not heard outside of systems costing 10s of thousands.

They're even not bad driven direct from the iPhone earphone socket, though if you haven't looked at headphone amps, I would suggest doing that if you're planning to spend $400 on a pair of good cans - if only for the dynamic range.

But I was recommended by an Apple Store employee to try these out at the store-and boy-they are amazing. The quality of sound/look/feel is 100% worth paying the full price.

I would recommend this to anyone who's not trying to purchase headphones over and over again. This is worth the price.

These are not active noise canceling, rather they are passive. For most purposes, these should work. However, for busy busses or planes, they may not be enough.

As for the comfort. The padding has to soften up and break in with time before it becomes comfortable. The clamping force isn't the largest with these after you've used them for a while.
