It was easy to install, the software is sufficiently customizable, and it works with every app that I've wanted it to. Couldn't ask for anything better.

I had one, and it seemed the touch stopped working within a day. I called and had it replaced. Second uint did the exact same thing. So, I replaced the drivers, contacted Wacom via a lengthy email process, PAID for a third unit to be shipped to me, and as with the first two units, it stopped within a day.

The pen works, the buttons work, the touch (only reason I "upgraded") does not.

DON"T BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK TILL WACOM FIX THEIR MAJOR BUG.

Pros: Cost effective beginner pen tablet for minor work/photo editing.

    Cons: Where do I start?

1)Difficult to install: I h Pros: Cost effective beginner pen tablet for minor work/photo editing.

    Cons: Where do I start?

1)Difficult to install: I had an older Wacom Pro connected to my Macbook pro prior to this. I installed the latest drivers for this, but until I wiped out the old software, only either the pen or the touch would work (whichever I touched first after bootup), but never both. After 30 mins of messing with drivers this seems to be resolved.

2)Ergonomics: The plastic requires a firm touch and has a high coefficient of friction compared the glass trackpad. Despite my high hopes, the MagicPad Wins there. I do like the blue, black, silver sharp color combo, but the feel is awful.

3)Gestures: I bought this so I would have a device that combined the pen and MagicPad Performance. The gesture recognition on this is sloppy at best. Gestures to reveal the desktop or launchpad (thumb and three fingers) are imprecise and poorly detected. I never appreciated how amazingly natural the MagicPad gestures are until I tried this. They are also NOT programmable- so even if I wanted to change them to be more friendly, I can't. Dragging a window is plop three fingers and swipe left or right- that's all you get. Wacom's idea of "Customization" is checking a box to enable or disable gestures. Its amazing how much worse a 4 finger swipe to change spaces is compared to Apple's 3 fingered swipe. Selecting a block of text in a text editor such as Sublime Text is the hardest thing to do. You end up selecting it, but also moving it at the same time. I had to practice this for 10 minutes and its still not reliable.

4)Details: when you scroll a web page with the MagicPad, you get that little bounce when you hit the top or bottom. You don't get that with this thing. When you swipe to change spaces its also an "all or nothing" thing where as with the magicpad you can pause half way between a swipe- you have control and fluidity. The whole operating system UI just works better with MagicPad. This made me VERY VERY sad. The lack of animation feels like 1995 all over again- as if Clippy the MS Office assistant is going to pop up any second, but even he was more animated than the UI when using the Wacom Pen and Touch.

Bottom line: I'd pass on this. The MagicPad dies every 3 months when the physical clicker mechanism wears out, but I'd rather buy 4 of those per year at $70 than one of these ever. Wacom- PLEASE improve your stuff- cause I want to buy it- I really do!
