AirPlay streaming wor An incredibly versatile WiFi speaker with the size and performance fit for just about any room in your home. AirPlay streaming works just like any other AirPlay speaker, but with the SoundTouch app you have access to much more, like Pandora and thousands of streaming internet stations. The programmable preset buttons work just like the presets in your car, so you can tune in to a favorite internet radio station, pandora channel, or even stream from your iTunes library, at the touch of a button, without having to take your iPhone out of your pocket if you don't want! Great sound and reliable AirPlay
I bought this to replace my aging JBL Creature speakers, and it's the first hifi speaker set I've owned since some Missions years I bought this to replace my aging JBL Creature speakers, and it's the first hifi speaker set I've owned since some Missions years ago. My requirements were: good sound reproduction, conveniently sized to put in a two-bed flat, reliable AirPlay.
Sound quality wise, I cannot fault it at all. Vocals are clear and natural, and base is defined and punchy. I often find myself sitting down re-listing to albums mesmerised by sounds I never heard before. Another reviewer has complained that Bose's "don't alter the sound" policy makes them bass-heavy; I don't find this myself, but if the bass is too strong at loud volumes, it's worth it for the clarity of sound. Be a good neighbour and ask next door when it's ok to have a party.
The height of the speakers makes them convenient to put on the small mid-shelf of my TV stand (although they've been promoted to the top shelf), and the simple, understated design makes them almost imperceptible in the corner. They're easily strong enough to fill a room two or three times the size of my flat though.
I looked at reviews of other speakers and was put off the Bowers & Wilkins speakers (I considered the Zeplins) because of reports of AirPlay dropouts. I've used my iPad and MBP to play music (mainly the former) and in several weeks of usage I've had no dropouts at all. I had one unrepeated incident where my iPad wouldn't connect, but I just restarted the SoundTouch and have had a continuous connection since.
This is the first Bose equipment I've bought, but I will definitely buy from them again. This is Apple-quality audio equipment to go with your Mac, iPhone or iPad. I highly recommend the SoundTouch 20. Maybe consider the SoundTouch 30 if your living room is the size of a tennis court, but I think most people will love these. Definitely worth the money. …

Works for me
Obviously great sound from the Bose product. The SoundTouch 30 is awesome - but for not for an additional $300.
I didn't hav Obviously great sound from the Bose product. The SoundTouch 30 is awesome - but for not for an additional $300.
I didn't have any problem setting up the SoundTouch. The secrets to ease of use is loading the SoundTouch app on you iPhone or iPad, selecting your six channels, and, making sure your computer's Energy Saver is set to "never".
So why not 5 stars? Although the iPad / iPhone app controls the speaker unit(s) and the SoundTouch comes with a remote control to do the same, the speaker unit does not have the same song back, song pause, or song advance song buttons; in the event it is more convenient to just reach out to do so. …

Simple enough for an 84 year old

After I set it up, she is able to play 6 different streams (NPR, WQXR, WKCR, WFMU, et cetera). There's nothing else on the market like it. The person that works at the Apple Store didn't understand what it did; I had to go online to Bose's website to learn its functionality. It can act as an AirPlay speaker from iTunes, it can act as a stand alone Internet radio, it can play playlists off of your mac without your interacting with the mac if you have the SoundTouch app running. It sounds fantastic. The remote is very easy to operate. I highly recommend it. …

Do NOT buy yet.. needs to be more stable
I bought my SoundTouch 30 a little over a month ago. (May 2014). I saw the demo in the Bose store and I was very impressed... it I bought my SoundTouch 30 a little over a month ago. (May 2014). I saw the demo in the Bose store and I was very impressed... it was SO slick that I dropped 900 bucks on it right there. I'm a big fan of Bose products and was excited they finally had the "Apple TV for audiophiles" Overall I say it's not worth the money YET.
Set up was easy enough although you have to connect it to your computer before it will find your network...seemed a bit odd... I digress.
Lots of radio channels available
Air Play is great (when the speaker is on line)
Easy to swap out pre-sets quickly
Great volume control on the device and the remote, [will get really loud but also can turn it right down so it's very very low]
And obviously frigging FANTASTIC sound quality you would expect from Bose!
Connection/software isn't stable [despite moving it and my wireless router (AirPort Extreme) with in 6 feet of each other, re booting, changing wifi settings etc, it hasn't improved, It will go off line for minutes to hours at at time. Very frustrating. Often when I turn it on it can't find the WiFi network I re boot my router and the SoundTouch and sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't. I have apple TV and have NO issues with connectivity and that's streaming video, Audio should be much less of a bandwidth hog] This is the biggest downfall of this device...
The volume control on the App is clunky, you can't adjust the volume accurately (ok i'm fussy but it's annoying)
There is no "mute" button on the app to silence it for a phone call
Often the app can't find the device (Likely because the speaker can't be found on the wifi network (see above))
navigating your music library isn't as slick or easy as it could be.
I would say once they have a new more stable software platform for this, it will be worth every penny but for now save your money until the bugs are all worked out. …

Absolutely Amazing - works perfectly

I've had this device for about three m Like many people I was on the fence with either purchasing an airplay device or Bluetooth. I've had this device for about three months now and have not had a single issue. It took about 10 minutes from opening to box, setting it up and installing the latest software before I had it playing beautiful sound.
I know many people have said the airplay function can be a nightmare but I have had no problem. A friend of mine did and he worked out that it was a simple network configuration issue - not actually a problem with the SoundTouch system. There are many forums online with easy fixes so don't worry about that.
The sound is absolutely amazing. Crystal clear, beautiful base and high notes. Not a single complaint from me or my family about the quality of the sound. Honestly, I would buy the 20" over the 30" as at higher volumes the 30" can distort the sound whereas my 20" never has. Even at the loudest (which is incredibly loud) it sounds perfect.
I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great sound system. With airplay, internet radio and pandora you will never run out of music to listen to. The app is also great for controlling the device or setting the 6 presets.
Again, a great innovation from Bose. I highly recommend it. You won't regret it. …
