  • Overview

More than just digital scales, the Smart Body Analyser tracks both your weight and your body composition. Check your heart rate simply by stepping on, with no extra effort involved. Thanks to its Bluetooth connectivity, the Smart Body Analyser is super-easy to set up on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. After each weigh in, the scale automatically uploads and syncs your data via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

Access your securely stored information whenever and wherever you need via the web or with the Health Mate app. Use it to set weight goals and the app will break them down into weekly achievable targets as well as giving you relevant tips. Even when you’re not standing on it, the scale is continuously monitoring the air quality of your indoor environment through temperature and carbon dioxide metering.

It is also made for the whole family as it can monitor up to eight different users. Everyone can have their own user profile and, once the Smart Body Analyser gets to know your weight, it automatically recognises who steps on it.

Like all scales that get body fat %/lean mass % is not accurate, however it is consistent making it useful. The heart rate monitor is cool. You can also add your heart rate manually via the app.

The integration on line with other apps is great.

I understand $150 is A LOT for a scale, but this is well worth it if you are interested in finding a good way to track your health and/or weigh loss progress and love high tech gadgets. The Withings App is simple to use and keeps your data at your fingertips and allows easy sharing to your health practitioner of your choice. It's not for everyone, but if you want a high end scale that does it all this is my recommendation. We also have the Blood Pressure Monitor, and the Baby Monitor on an unrelated note, which is worth a look as well.

The one negative I would say is that it's a bit expensive for what it is. But if you're serious about your goals this may be a good tool to have.

This product is All I wanted was to have a scale that would send my weight to an app, so that I could track my weight over time. This product is not providing this basic function. The scale will not sync with the app and the bluetooth connectivity won't seem to stick. I am quite surprised that Apple would let such an unreliable product grace its shelves.

It d I bought a Withings Smart Body Analyzer with high hopes for a really well made device with great automation and connectivity. It delivers on all of these but fails horribly on the main reason for buying it - measuring my weight, body fat and pulse.

Set up was straightforward, but every time I used it, it reported a different weight. And this wasn't hours or days between measures, it was getting on, stepping off and stepping back on again. Weight varied by anything up to several kg on occasion. Moving my body a few degrees forward, back or side to side induced a significant change in reported weight too.

Body fat measure was, dare I say it, even worse. I'm an average size (my BMI is in the normal range) but the Withings never reported a body fat percentage lower than 50%! I mean, come on, I'm probably a little overweight now but I spent a long time in the gym for many years and I was utterly gobsmacked when I saw the first measurement. I assumed it was an initial error, but repeated measurement over the following week gave variations of 50-59%, and again never consistently. I know body fat measures like this aren't the most reliable, but it's got to be at least in the right order of magnitude to hold any value.

Pulse measurement was equally bad. Woke up, got out of bed, got onto the scales, Should have been 70ish pulse. Reported anything up to 146 bpm and more. I don't think I saw more than a couple of readings below 100, even after a relaxing evening or sleep.

I must be the most unhealthy person in existence according to the Withings.

Anyway, gave up and returned it for a refund as "totally unfit for purpose". The assistant didn't bat an eyelid and just refunded the full amount.

Sorry Withings, the device looks nice and is well made, but it's as useful as a glass brick for the intended use.
