Can't use with a case!

I used it briefly to listen to my audiobook on my iPhone 5 & enjoyed the sound quality. However, it’s not designed to be used with a case. I have a Noreve flip case (rail system) where the cover flips back behind the phone that allows full access to the phone’s speakers & lighting port. The phone within the case fits on the base, but leans far forward at an angle making it difficult to see & operate the phone. The mechanism that the lighting pin is connected to does move forward & backwards, which is why the phone & case leans forward. However, there isn’t enough space behind the lightening connector to allow a backward lean. (Look at the detailed picture on Apple’s site).
My husband’s iPhone 5 is in a “bumper” type case. This set up didn’t work at all. The JBL’s lighting connector it too short & didn't connect to the JBL's lighting pin.
JBL OnBeat Micro Speaker has a nice compact footprint, appears sturdy & well built. And from the brief time “listening” to my audiobook, the sound quality was great. I’m just not willing to remove my phone from its case each time to use it. …

A nicely made dock/speaker/charger for lightning connecting iPhone/iPod. Great on bedside cabinet with the 'big clock hd' app set A nicely made dock/speaker/charger for lightning connecting iPhone/iPod. Great on bedside cabinet with the 'big clock hd' app set on minimum brightness. (Stroke screen downwards). Can work on batteries but obviously won't charge the docked item. You won't buy this if you want a lot of bass, you will need something like the new Bose, but for what it is, really nice sound and nicely made. …

Disappointed that it shuts off...useless for alarm
I purchased this unit in hopes that it would charge my phone and I could use it to wake up to music using the iHome app that fades I purchased this unit in hopes that it would charge my phone and I could use it to wake up to music using the iHome app that fades in the music gradually as an alarm. Well, come to find out that if it doesn't have any sound coming into it, it shuts off after a short while. First it goes into "standby" mode, and then it totally shuts off. So of course I didn't hear my alarm. Looked on the JBL website, and it says "Please note that after 10 minutes of no audio, OnBeat Micro goes into Standby (5 minutes on batteries). After 30 minutes, it goes into full OFF. While it is in Standby, it will revert to ON status when it receives an audio signal, either from a docked component, from the analog AUX input or the USB input. From full OFF, it no longer wakes up automatically, but can only be turned ON again with the round Power Button. The reason for this is EuP regulations, which require products to go into automatic standby to save energy. We are sorry about any inconvenience caused by this." Darn. I was really hoping it would work as an alarm to wake up to. …

Sounds Great bar One Minor Irritation!

It's a convenient way to charge my iPhone whilst listening to my music. Playback is crisp and clear; I often find myself having to turn the volume down such is the impressive power of this portable unit!
My only bugbear is that sometimes it'll go into standby mode randomly meaning I have to turn the speaker unit back on to continue where my playlist left off.
However, this is only a minor irritation. If you are looking for a portable speaker dock for your iPhone 5 then I can thoroughly recommend this product. …

Who wants to take case off!!??

I have a case that does not come off easy and this is huge pain in the neck. Obviously the engineers were fast asleep when designing this.
Extremely Poor design, they should send free extenders to everyone. Who cares about sound if convenience is terrible. …
