    Great storage drive

    Transfer speeds are as fast as the cars.

    I store my entire iTunes library on it and for this purpose it works well. It can "go to sleep" at any interval you set (I leave it at 5 mins), and it shuts off on it's own when you're not using it. It wakes up almost instantly when queried and in about 5 seconds you're connected again to your files. In my case, when I'm not using iTunes it lays dormant. If I open iTunes, the Porsche drive spins up and is ready about as fast as it takes iTunes to load & open.

    Great build & quiet

    I had the original Porsche Designed Lacie Hardrives when I first purchased my Mac many years ago. I have since (over the years) needed to increase storage size and have therefore had many different makes. My original Lacie drives never failed me and I hope these don't either. Alternatives I have purchased over the years have failed and this is the reason for my recent purchase of these (buy 3x 2TB drives). The build quality is great. The drives are heavily but this makes you feel like there is quality in what you are buying. They sit nicely next to my 21.5" iMac and don't look out of place. They are quiet and the light on the front is stylish and provides feedback when active. There are alternative drives available on the market yes, but would justify the extra cost by the style. Very happy with this product so far. …More

    Easy install. Looks great. Excellent build quality.

    This is my first external hard drive as I needed somewhere to store my increasing movie collection.

    Install was easy step by step, took less than a minute.

    Seamlessly worked with Time Machine once I partitioned the drive. Did get pretty hot on the initial back up, but has remained cool since.

    Quickly transferred 100 or so gigs of data (less than an hour working away in the background).
