I listen I'm a college student and I was looking for some desk speakers whose sound could completely fill up an entire large room. I listen to a wide range of music and wanted speakers that could satisfy this. I decided to try out the Bose Companion 20's and despite my skepticism, they perform beautifully. I really like my bass and so I was worried the companion 20's would be lacking in this respect. Turns out that they have plenty enough bass to make me happy. Sure it isn't heart throbbing like you would get from a system with a subwoofer but it certainly is well balanced with the rest of the ranges. The sound quality of the system is amazing. Now I can actually tell which music files are high and low quality. I should mention that I am using these speakers with a MacBook Pro and the setup looks gorgeous. Everything matches perfectly and looks really clean. I would definitely recommend this product! …

Worth every penny

At $2 I have an extensive digital music collection on my PC, so I wanted a quality upgrade to my old Sony's to listen to my music. At $260, these are certainly not cheap for PC speakers, but of course, you know the old adage, you get what you pay for. These little beauties produce sound at all ranges (even the lows) expertly, without the need for a separate sub-woofer. There is no distortion at higher volumes and no loss of fidelity at lower volumes.
I like the separate 'pod' which controls volume (there are no volumes/power controls on the actual speakers) and with a quick tap, mutes the speakers. You can also connect headphones via the pod or a separate audio source like an iPod.
I believe the Bose Companion 2 (which is their entry level PC speaker) run about $110. I say skip past those and go right to the Companion 20. You won't be disappointed. …

Very clear sound
I originally had logitech z-2300 speakers that broke so decided to venture and buy new speakers. I thought the logitech speakers s I originally had logitech z-2300 speakers that broke so decided to venture and buy new speakers. I thought the logitech speakers sub woofer was way over active and kind of annoying. So I bought these, and I got to admit, they don't have a sub woofer but they pump out sounds EXTREMELY nice & clean. The base will surprise you and you will definitely hear it!! And it's not over active or late and sounds very very nice. The speakers handle loud volumes very clearly with no breakage of sound, at all.
HOWEVER, these do not include a sub woofer so if you are looking for 15" woofer sounds, these speakers aren't it. But I will definitely keep as a replacement for my THX z-2300 speakers because of the right amount of bass, treble and very clear mid-tones. …

These guys are solid, with a nice weight and well constructed, quality feeling about them that comes with products that carry a price tag like theirs. Spin the control pod dial, then you'll know what I mean by "quality feel" (also, having the extra 3.5 in/out's in the control pod are very handy, and the touch-sensitive top as a mute/power control is nice too). They look absolutely stunning on my desk and pair beautifully with my 15-inch MacBook Pro. The most impressive thing about these speakers though is how well they sound. They deliver deeply rich and well balanced sound across all volume levels, with a broad soundstage that sounds like you're seated in the center of a concert hall balcony (the best sounding seats in the house). Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! …

Pay For What You Get

I have bought Bose speakers in the past, but it was time for something to compliment my 27 inch iMac and these were surprisingly awesome. I can't believe how loud they are and I can never understand how Bose manages to give you surround sound with only 2 channels. They're definitely not intended for deep bass but rather for really clean audio. Even at high volume, the sound stays clear, without distortions. I noticed that my MP3s recorded at higher bit rates actually give you a really nice range of sound. Overall worth the cost and this is a product where you notice that you get what you pay for. They're not cheap because they don't sound like the cheap versions. If you want bass that knocks pictures off your walls, you may want to consider something with a stand alone subwoofer, but if you're into quality audio without the clutter, these are perfect and cosmetically compliment the look and finish of the iMac. …
