Do I need an adaptor and converter to use ipad2 in Israel? And if I do need one can I use the general 1600w converter I use for hair dryer?

Hi there,
The short answer is, which will save you a few dollars, is that you do NOT need a converter to use your IPAD. You do however, need an adaptor, which thankfully is much cheaper than a converter. Most laptops, cellphones, IPADs, etc, are already dual-voltage wit the converter already "built-in" to the devices. In fact, you can check this on your device but as far as I'm aware, all Apple devices are dual voltage (110 and 220V). I am working in Israel as we speak, and use my IPOD and IPhone 4 here with the simple use of an adapter for each one.
Hope this helps!- Answered by Dave B from Barrie
