I tried For some reason, the burning speed is much faster on this SuperDrive than other standalone DVD drives you find on Amazon. I tried the Amazon Basic DVD drive, but the speed is so slow that I had to return it. The Apple USB SuperDrive doesn't have this problem, though.

Seriously. The retina display has a resolution of 2880 x 1800. I think it's time for 1080p viewability.

Although it still irks me that such a device is even necessary in this day and age. Sure improved portability is a nice feature but taking away the optical disk drive to do so seems silly. Overall no complaints, however.

It is compatible--as advertised--with Mac systems lacking a built-in optical drive, so it may not work with your Mac that has a dead built-in drive, nor with your PC (Windows-type) computer, nor while plugged into the radio of a 1957 Chevy. It also may not give the best results when it's upside down under your blankets with a poodle sleeping on it. It may not act reliably when used with a hub or if you cover your discs with glitter and glue before inserting them. Potential purchasers, don't be dissuaded by reviewers who aren't using this device along with the proper hardware. I bought it; I plugged it in; I inserted a disc into it; I selected "burn." How hard is that, people, honestly? Ask someone to review your BRAIN before you berate a product that does exactly what it is designed to do.
