Can't use with a case!

I used it briefly to listen to my audiobook on my iPhone 5 & enjoyed the sound quality. However, it’s not designed to be used with a case. I have a Noreve flip case (rail system) where the cover flips back behind the phone that allows full access to the phone’s speakers & lighting port. The phone within the case fits on the base, but leans far forward at an angle making it difficult to see & operate the phone. The mechanism that the lighting pin is connected to does move forward & backwards, which is why the phone & case leans forward. However, there isn’t enough space behind the lightening connector to allow a backward lean. (Look at the detailed picture on Apple’s site).
My husband’s iPhone 5 is in a “bumper” type case. This set up didn’t work at all. The JBL’s lighting connector it too short & didn't connect to the JBL's lighting pin.
JBL OnBeat Micro Speaker has a nice compact footprint, appears sturdy & well built. And from the brief time “listening” to my audiobook, the sound quality was great. I’m just not willing to remove my phone from its case each time to use it. …

A nicely made dock/speaker/charger for lightning connecting iPhone/iPod. Great on bedside cabinet with the 'big clock hd' app set A nicely made dock/speaker/charger for lightning connecting iPhone/iPod. Great on bedside cabinet with the 'big clock hd' app set on minimum brightness. (Stroke screen downwards). Can work on batteries but obviously won't charge the docked item. You won't buy this if you want a lot of bass, you will need something like the new Bose, but for what it is, really nice sound and nicely made. …

Who wants to take case off!!??

I have a case that does not come You have to remove even a slim case to dock it every time, how annoying, then put case back on. I have a case that does not come off easy and this is huge pain in the neck. Obviously the engineers were fast asleep when designing this.
Extremely Poor design, they should send free extenders to everyone. Who cares about sound if convenience is terrible. …

I want to use the JBL speaker for presentations as I have with many other JBL generations. This one fits the iphone 5 BUT sometime I want to use the JBL speaker for presentations as I have with many other JBL generations. This one fits the iphone 5 BUT sometimes when I pause a song and want to go back and play a new one, often times I can't get it to play. Yes, sometimes I turn it back on and wait. It turns itself off. Is there any way to stop this thing from turning off. Then it forgets the volume so my perfectly edited sound bit is missed, and I am looking like a fool. Pushing, waiting, hoping. Too big. Plug way to big. A big disappointment. I wouldn't get this one. …

Some flaws and POOR support.
First up, as a simple speaker it's great. No complaints.

However, I bought this as a dock to put by my bed so I can wake up to music/radio/alarm/whatever and it does not work in this way. If the speaker doesn't detect any audio coming from the device for ten minutes, it turns itself on and then doesn't wake up when the audio does come out.
Despite contacting JBL three times on this, suggesting they may wish to put some from of "wake up" functionality in it, or put in an override to stay on, they have failed to adequately respond on each occasion. NOT what I would have expected from a company like JBL.
And that's what really rankles - not that I bought something that doesn't do what I want it to. That's my problem really - it's sold as a speaker and it does that very well. It's that I expected a better customer service experience from what I thought was a decent brand. …
