I bought this to connect my 5 to my car (Benz) electronics so I could control my phone with the car's joystick. Plugged it in and I bought this to connect my 5 to my car (Benz) electronics so I could control my phone with the car's joystick. Plugged it in and it worked perfectly (to my surprise). My car has a 30 pin cable out and this 30 pin to Lightning fit perfectly and is long enough to the two cables together can connect to the phone while in the cup holder.

My only complaint is the price (thus the 4 star rating). Apple should include one of these with every device as we've all made investments in 30 pin cables over the past 7 years. Starting to lose my patience with Apple over this one.

You buy this adapter because it works with your phone case Andy you carry it with you. White lightning connector cables are $19 and you can get white 30 pin cables for just a few bucks. You use this connector to use the 30 pin cables you have now. If you have to buy 4 lightning cables that's $80 and you still can't use the 30 pin docks without the adapter. This adapter while over priced at $39.99 it is still less than buying all new sync cables. This is a 5 star product but I only gave it 4 stars because of the price and Apple finding another way to make my wallet a little lighter. Apple you should have included one with the device, most of us would have bought at least one more.

Considering that they are changing this I would have thought they'd include one with the phone.

Enough griping, this cable works great and has even made it easier for me to talk on the phone while it is plugged into my car. The cable I had was a little too short to not have a constant tugging from the coiled cord. Now with the extra 20cm I can talk comfortably.

The lightning to 30-pin adapter (0.2m) shows signs of green oxidation on the lightning end and has stopped working. The lightning to usb adapter in my car works great and shows no sign of green oxidation. My wife uses a short lightning to 30-pin adapter and has also shown no signs of green oxidation. Not sure if the materials or quality of manufacturing are different between different adapter lines or date of manufacturing?

I was worried the adapter would not support the audio like it did with my iphone 4. It worked perfectly with the factory cable the Kia has, like it was with my previous iphone.

I finally get around and decide to buy this one, guest what, it only charge but not working, no control from my RNS-E. So 2 stars for not fully functioning.
