The 45W MagSafe 2 Power Adaptor features a magnetic DC connector so if someone should trip over it, the cord disconnects harmlessly and your MacBook Air stays put safely. It also helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.
When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector lights up; an amber light lets you know that your notebook is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC lead is provided with the adaptor for maximum lead length, while the AC wall adaptor (also provided) gives you an even easier and more compact way to travel.
Designed to be the perfect travelling companion, the adaptor has a clever design that allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.
This power adaptor recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.
Compatible only with MacBook Air featuring MagSafe 2 power port.

Broke too soon
Quite careful with my equipment. This one simply stopped working under no significant stress conditions. Quality control alert.

Worst Apple product or accesory
This is like a bad dream. When I saw the reviews I thought they were joking. I feel like sending the entire laptop back because of the adapter. It falls off for no reason and gets in the way. Apple needs to do a recall. …

No Problems
Well both these reviews are right in their own ways. The charger is great for what it is designed to do. However you have to pro vide it a little more consideration than some other cords. I have broken 2 by my own fault as one I twisted too tight around the built in holder and the other my 8 year old autistic son broke after 6 months of hard use. Look apple can't be blamed for moves like that. In fact the genius bar would have replaced the first one under warranty but I don't play that way. So for my money the product is fine, and I'll put my 15 bucks a month away and replace the charger if I need too, I waste more money than that on coffee. …

If I could give it zero stars I would.
First off, the end of the cable attached to the base of the charger is so flimsy that I had to tape it because the protective plas tic around the wires bent and split open after I wrapped my cord up for storage. The charger base slips out of outlets and it has made loud disruptions when I am studying in a quiet atmosphere. The magnet end that attaches to the compter is cool but the detachable piece on the charger with the 2 prongs on it slides off a lot. Lastly, this price is freaking ridiculous, i'm a college student, my monthly living budget for necessities is even less than $79.......please Apple, design a better charger, I have a 2012 Macbook Air, and I love it, but this charger is killing me. …

Well...
It really isn't as bad as people point out...My charger has now recently broken and this my 3rd year of owning it. The only reaso n why it is broke is because of the protective cover around the wires. It is very thin and could be easily torn. If you take care of your products it should last a lot longer..My charger didn't fall out as often as the other reviews. …
